Union Source Snowboard Bindings 26/27

The 26/27 Union Source is the most forgiving and least expensive binding in Union’s Direct Connect family. Union marks the flex at 6/10 and gives it Performance 9, with All-Mountain, Freestyle and Freeride each at 8 on Union’s own scorecard. Those are Union ratings, not PTO test scores, and they place the Source as the balanced entry point to this specialized platform.

A Duraflex CB core sits inside the S10 Halo baseplate, separating this construction from the forged-carbon cores used higher in the family. Behind the boot is an S18 highback in Duraflex Blue; TPE ankle and Forcegrip toe straps complete the two-strap package. Union lists the pair at 1.50 kg.

Direct Connect bolts the baseplate straight to 4x2 inserts without a conventional disk. The published interface stops at 4x2, leaving Channel, 4x4-only and Burton 3D outside the fit. Sizing is equally narrow: US Men’s 8–10 goes to M, while 10.5–13 goes to L. Choose from the boot, never rider weight.

Its advantage is not universal versatility. It is the most approachable tune inside a deliberately narrow direct-mount family, for a buyer already committed to the required board interface.

Choose the Source for a confident rider who wants Direct Connect with flex 6 and a lower entry price than either higher-tier sibling. Step up when lower mass, more carbon or a firmer chassis justifies the money. Skip the Source if the board is not 4x2, the boot is outside M/L, or a conventional disk and broader board compatibility matter more. PTO can verify both fit gates before mounting.
