Description

The Union Falcor is Union's top-rated freeride binding — a mid-stiff, two-strap Mini Disk model built for riding hard and fast off the groomers. It is the Travis Rice pro binding, and Union's own scorecard tells the story: a class-leading mark for freeride, high scores for all-mountain and performance, and a slightly lower one for freestyle. This is a binding meant to be driven.

The feel is engineered, not advertised. An asymmetric Italian forged-carbon highback and a stiff Duraflex CB baseplate deliver quick, precise steering at speed, while the compact Mini Disk lets the board keep more of its natural flex underfoot. Canting is built in, forward lean is micro-adjustable, and the chassis stays light for how much drive it offers.

Reach for the Falcor if you charge variable, off-piste and big-mountain terrain and want response over a soft, surfy ride. Look elsewhere if your priority is different: Union's Atlas Pro is the stiffer everyday all-mountain pick, the Neo is a lighter performance step down, and the Ultra Men is the softer, park-leaning sibling. Tell us how you actually ride and we will point you to the right one.

Two practical notes before you order. On mounting, the Mini Disk fits Union's own insert pattern and Burton's Channel, but it will not mount a deck cut only for the four-by-four grid or Burton's older three-hole layout — so tell us what your board is drilled for. On sizing, choose by your boot rather than your body weight: Union offers small, medium and large, but there is no published boot-size chart to map them. A binding ships bare anyway, so bring us your boots and we will size it to your board in the shop.

Flex

7/10

Mid-stiff — 7 on Union's own 1–10 scale

Flex ratings are the brand’s own and do not compare across brands.

The Union Falcor is Union's freeride flagship and its Travis Rice pro model, and Union's own catalog scorecard says why: freeride 10/10, the top mark in Union's range, alongside performance 9/10, all-mountain 9/10 and freestyle 8/10. That is the shape of a binding built to point downhill fast and hold an edge through variable off-piste, not a soft do-anything freestyle tool. The flex reads 7/10 on Union's own 1-to-10 scale — mid-stiff and responsive, a chassis meant to be driven rather than jibbed.

The response is built, not badged. The highback is the S20 Asym Forged Hybrid 3.0, an asymmetric shell of Italian forged carbon that transmits steering input to the edge quickly and holds its shape under load — that is where the precise, at-speed feel comes from. Beneath your boot sits the Stage 12 Duraflex CB baseplate on a Mini Disk footprint: stiff and direct through the bolts, but with a small contact patch that lets the board flex more naturally underfoot than a full-size disk would. New for 26/27, the Hinge Ankle Strap Connector aims to wrap the boot more evenly through the strap. Canting, micro-adjust forward lean and magnesium S1 ratchets round out the build, and it comes in at 1.80 kg for the pair — light for a full-power freeride binding.

Inside Union's own line the Falcor has close neighbors. If your days are mostly everyday all-mountain rather than big-mountain charging, the Atlas Pro is the stiffer, more responsive choice — it scores all-mountain 10/10 to the Falcor's 9, though it rides a heavier Camber Disk at 1.96 kg and gives up freeride (9/10 to the Falcor's 10). The Neo is the lighter half-step down, a performance Mini Disk binding at 1.78 kg that Union rates all-mountain 9/10 and freeride 9/10. A rider who lives in the park is better routed to the Ultra Men — softer and lighter at 1.75 kg, freestyle 9/10 against the Falcor's 8. Among the four, the Falcor is the freeride specialist.

Two things to settle before you buy. Mounting: the Falcor's Mini Disk takes Union's 4x2 insert pattern and Burton's Channel only — a board drilled solely for the 4x4 grid, or Burton's older 3D three-hole layout, physically will not accept it, so check what your deck uses. Sizing: it follows your boot, not your weight, and runs S, M and L — but Union does not publish a boot-size chart for this model in the materials we have, so send us your boot and we will confirm the size. This is a read off Union's own catalog, and every number here is Union's published spec.

Will it fit your board?

The mounting disk fits 2x4, EST/Channel insert patterns.

Technology

S20 Asym Forged Hybrid 3.0 highback

An asymmetric highback made from Italian forged carbon. It transmits steering input to the board's edge quickly and holds its shape under load, which is where the responsive, at-speed feel comes from. It drives the board; it is not a safety device.

Stage 12 Duraflex CB baseplate (S12 Halo)

A Duraflex CB baseplate on a Mini Disk footprint. It gives stiff, direct power transfer through the bolts, while the small disk contact patch lets the board flex more naturally underfoot than a full-size disk allows.

Hinge Ankle Strap Connector (Hybrid 3.0 w/ HP Core)

New for 26/27, a hinged connection between the ankle strap and highback. Union says it wraps the boot more evenly and keeps response consistent through the strap.

Canting + Micro FLAD + Magnesium S1 ratchets

A canted footbed, micro-adjust forward lean and magnesium ratchets — the tuning and weight-saving hardware Union puts on its top-tier freeride binding.

  • ·Grade 8.8 steel hardware

Strengths

  • +Top freeride mark in Union's range: freeride 10/10, performance 9/10, all-mountain 9/10.
  • +Italian forged-carbon highback and Duraflex CB baseplate give quick, precise response at speed.
  • +Light for a full-power freeride binding — 1.80 kg for the pair.
  • +Mini Disk footprint lets the board flex naturally while the baseplate stays stiff and direct.
  • +Mid-stiff flex 7/10, with canting and micro-adjust forward lean.

Best For

Advanced-to-expert riders charging big-mountain, freeride and variable off-piste who want a fast, precise, mid-stiff chassis — on a board with Union 4x2 or Burton Channel inserts.

Limitations

  • Flex 7/10 is mid-stiff — firmer and less forgiving than a soft park binding.
  • Union rates it freestyle 8/10, a notch below its dedicated park bindings.
  • Mini Disk fits Union's 4x2 pattern and Burton Channel only — not a 4x4-only or 3D board.
  • Boot-size-to-binding chart is not published for this model — confirm boot fit first.
  • A catalog-and-spec read.

Not For

Beginners and casual cruisers who want a soft, forgiving, easy-flexing binding; dedicated park jibbers who want a softer, surfier, lighter one (Union's Ultra Men, freestyle 9/10 at 1.75 kg); and anyone whose board takes only the 4x4 pattern or Burton's old 3D layout — the Mini Disk will not mount it.

Common Questions

How is the Union Falcor different from the Atlas Pro and the Ultra?
All three are top Union bindings on different missions. The Falcor is the freeride benchmark (freeride 10/10, 1.80 kg on a Mini Disk). The Atlas Pro is the stiffer all-mountain pick (all-mountain 10/10, 1.96 kg on a Camber Disk). The Ultra Men leans freestyle (freeride 7/10, freestyle 9/10, 1.75 kg).
Will the Union Falcor fit my board?
The Mini Disk mounts Union's 4x2 insert pattern and Burton's Channel (EST). It will not fit a board drilled only for the 4x4 grid or Burton's older 3D three-hole pattern — on those it physically will not mount. If you are unsure what your board uses, ask us and we will check.
What size Union Falcor should I order?
Size follows your boot, not your weight. Union offers the Falcor in S, M and L but does not publish a boot-size chart for this model in the materials we have. Tell us your boot size and we will confirm the fit.
Does the Falcor have a release like a ski binding?
No. A snowboard binding has no DIN and no release mechanism — it holds your boot to the board. Its flex and terrain numbers describe feel and response, not protection.
