The Union Ultra is Union's freestyle-first snowboard binding for 26/27, a mid-flex two-strap model built around an asymmetric Mini Disk for a playful, park-leaning ride that still holds up across the whole mountain. Union's own ratings tell the story cleanly: its top mark is for freestyle, with a strong all-mountain score close behind and a lower freeride rating.
That character is a build choice. A minimal-footprint Mini Disk leaves less hardware under the boot so the deck can bend more naturally, while Union's Molecular Bushing adds a cushioned suspension layer that softens landings and quiets chatter. A new-for-this-season highback and an integrated forward-lean adjuster round out a chassis tuned for responsive-but-forgiving freestyle riding rather than stiff, hard-charging drive.
Reach for the Ultra when the park and side hits are your home base but you still want to lap the rest of the hill. Look elsewhere if you ride one thing above all: Union's Falcor is the dedicated freeride tool, and the softer Strata is the park purist's pick. Tell us where you spend your days and we will match you to the right model in the line.
Two practical notes before you order. On mounting, the Mini Disk takes boards cut for Union's 4x2 pattern or a Burton Channel; it will not mount a 4x4-only board or Burton's older 3D three-hole layout, so check your inserts first. On sizing, choose by your boot rather than your body weight: Union lists S, M and L but has not published boot-size ranges for them. A binding ships on its own, so we will mount it to your deck and dial in your size and stance in the shop.
