Description
The Burton Cartel X EST is a men's two-strap snowboard binding built for Burton's Channel mounting system, rated Stiff & Aggressive, the highest of the three labels on Burton's binding stiffness scale. Burton sums it up as the Cartel X for Channel boards.
EST does away with the usual mounting disc. The binding fastens to The Channel through two outboard points, leaving no mounting hardware under your foot; Burton ties that to direct connection and real-time feedback from the board. The baseplate is a 45% short-glass/nylon composite laid out as a dual-component design with The Hinge, which Burton says flexes for foot rolls and ollies while holding firmer edge to edge. A Heel Hammock hi-back, a DialFLAD forward-lean dial, a Hammockstrap 2.0 ankle strap and a Supergrip Capstrap 2.0 toe strap on Smooth Glide buckles complete the build.
It is the wrong binding for a board without The Channel, because Burton says EST will not go on a 2x4, 4x4 or 3D-drilled board. It also sits in the tier Burton's guidance generally keeps for experienced riders.

Dual-Component Baseplate with The Hinge
Burton: two materials, one underfoot and a separate one on the lateral and medial sides, for a softer, more balanced ride that is stiffer edge to edge, with The Hinge adding dynamic flex for foot rolls, easier ollies and less fatigue. The spec table names one material only: short-glass/nylon composite at 45%.
DialFLAD
A rotating dial on the hi-back that sets forward lean. Burton: more lean gives an active, quicker response; less gives a more relaxed one.
Heel Hammock
Burton says it gives the boot heel a snug fit, for no heel slip and a fast response.
Supergrip Capstrap 2.0
A toe strap that wraps across the whole toe of the boot and, Burton says, pulls it down and back into the heel cup. The 2.0 adds dual-texture over-molding for grip on the boot.
Smooth Glide Buckles
Burton calls them easy to secure, reliable and smooth, and says they are built from bomb-proof materials.

- Will the Cartel X EST fit my snowboard?
- Only if the board has The Channel. Burton says EST is not compatible with 4x2, 4x4 or 3D hole patterns, and its guides place The Channel on Burton boards made after 2014 and on some other brands' boards. Channel boards from before 2010 use the narrower M5 Channel and need M5 inserts, which Burton says it no longer makes, so tell us your board model and we will confirm the hardware.
