The Union Force is a traditional two-strap binding built around a medium flex — Union rates it a 7 out of 10, and in practice it rides closer to a 6.5 once broken in. The S9 Duraflex ST baseplate is designed to transmit energy directly rather than absorb it, so when you drive an edge the board responds immediately. The Molecular Bushing Suspension System sits under the footbed and takes the edge off chatter and hard landings without making the whole chassis feel dead. The redesigned S19 Duraflex ST highback runs softer at the top — which cuts down on calf bite on longer days — and stiffens as it widens lower down, so you still get the heel-side authority you need when you mean it. A 3-degree canted footbed keeps your knees stacked over your feet rather than fighting your natural stance all day. The Exoframe 6.0 ankle strap with molecular padding holds your boot without pressure points, and the TS 5.0 Forcegrip toe strap shapes to the boot and grips from every angle. The tool-less FLAD lets you dial forward lean on the highback without digging out a screwdriver, so you can adjust it chairlift-side. Mounting is straightforward: it ships with the Camber Disk, which works on 4x4, 2x4, and Burton Channel boards.
This binding is made for intermediate through advanced all-mountain riders — someone who wants real board feel and edge response without the arm-pump stiffness of a dedicated freeride binding. If you spend most of your time on groomers, sidehits, and occasional park laps but still want pop when you carve, the Force fits that brief well. It is not the right call for a beginner who needs forgiveness more than response, and it is not what you want if you primarily ride deep powder or technical big-mountain lines where a stiffer, more dampening setup like the Union Atlas makes more sense. This is a standard strap binding, not a step-in system: it works with any snowboard boot, but it is not Burton Step On compatible, so if you ride Step On boots this isn't the binding for that setup. Riders after a softer, more playful setup should look at the Union Flite Pro instead.
