Flex

5/5

Stiff & powerful — the only 5/5 among the Jones bindings we stock

Flex ratings are the brand’s own and do not compare across brands.

The Zenith FASE is the stiff end of the Jones binding range and it doesn't pretend otherwise. Jones rates the flex 5/5 — “Stiff & powerful” — and scores it 10/10 freeride against 7/10 park. Of the six Jones bindings we stock, it is the stiffest, the heaviest and the most expensive.

The straps don't go away, which is worth saying because “fast entry” carries baggage. You still get a real ankle strap and a real toe strap with a ratchet on each. What FASE changes is who does the closing: the AutoBack shuts as your boot goes in and opens when you lift out, and the FastStrap ladder stays connected so you strap in one-handed. You aren't trading straps for convenience — you're trading the re-threading.

Four parts carry the flex number, and to Jones's credit it describes each one rather than simply charging you for them: a carbon-injected Fusion+ XR-C baseplate, a carbon-injected AsymCore highback pre-loaded with extra forward lean, a VertEx ankle strap and a higher-density ImpactCush+ footbed. Note the lean is pre-loaded — out of the box, the highback setting is not neutral. It adjusts tool-lessly, so you can back it off.

The honest caveats. It has no bushings and no Flip-It strap, so Jones's Freeride and Surf mode switching isn't available on it — what it ships with is what you ride. At 1.8 kg per pair in M it is the heaviest of the six we stock, even though Jones's FASE material advertises “minimal weight and footprint”. Both of those are Jones's, and we print them side by side rather than pick the flattering one.

It is also brand new: no predecessor, no independent on-snow reviews, and we have not ridden it. Everything above is read off Jones's spec and Jones's own scores, and we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. If you charge, this is a serious binding. If you ride park, it is the wrong one.

Will it fit your board?

The mounting disk fits 4x4, 2x4, EST/Channel insert patterns.

Technology

FASE® Fast Entry System

Jones describes it as enhancing the locked-in feel of a traditional two-strap binding while making the strapping-in far quicker. It is built from three parts — the AutoBack, the FastStrap and the Locked-In Toe Strap.

The AutoBack

Closes automatically as the boot enters the binding and opens when you lift the boot out — hands-free. It also folds flat for skating, chairlifts and storage.

The FastStrap

A long ankle ladder that remains connected, so you strap in one-handed with nothing to re-thread. A conventional ratchet still sets the tension.

The Locked-In Toe Strap

Runs the Locking Slap Ratchet 2.1 on a tri-toothed ladder, designed to stay in position — set it once and leave it, or adjust on the fly.

Fusion+ XR-C Baseplate [NEW]

Carbon-injected, asymmetric and low-profile, built on the Fusion+ Pad — a three-layer blend of EVA and TPU. Jones claims maximum response and power; it does not publish what the carbon injection does mechanically, and neither do we.

AsymCore Carbon Highback [NEW]

Carbon-injected and stiff, pre-loaded with more forward lean, with a fully extended upper wing and what Jones calls its most responsive Asym Spine. Forward lean is tool-lessly adjustable, so the pre-load can be backed off.

VertEx Ankle Strap [NEW]

A two-part asymmetric strap: soft PU foam over a structured VertEx Spine, for a connected fit with immediate response.

ImpactCush+ Footbed [NEW]

Higher-density foam for quicker edge response. The footbed slides to integrate with the FASE system and carries a 3° cant.

Adaptive Fit Toe Strap

A flexible exterior outline that shapes to the boot, a denser centre spine for a secure lock, and a textured interior that grips the boot.

Alloy Buckles

High-grade aluminium buckles, which Jones builds for durability.

Features

  • ·Universal mounting disk
  • ·LSR 2.1 Auto-Lock Toe Buckle [UPDATED]
  • ·Tool-less strap adjustment
  • ·Tool-less forward-lean adjustment

Strengths

  • +The premium is itemised, not asserted — four parts carry a [NEW] tag and a carbon or higher-density spec, and Jones publishes a written description of each
  • +Fast entry without surrendering the straps: a real ankle strap and toe strap, a ratchet on each
  • +The AutoBack folds flat, which pays off skating out of a lift line and in a board bag
  • +Freeride 10/10 — Jones’s highest score for it, and the reason to own it
  • +Mounts on anything mainstream: 4x4, 2x4 and Burton’s Channel
  • +Forward lean and straps both adjust without tools

Best For

Advanced-to-expert riders with a freeride and high-speed-carving bias who want fast entry without dropping to a softer binding.

Limitations

  • Freestyle 7/10 — the lowest park score of the six Jones bindings we stock. This is not an all-round binding
  • Heaviest of the six at 1.8 kg per pair (M), while Jones’s FASE material advertises “minimal weight and footprint”
  • No bushings and no Flip-It strap, so Jones’s Freeride/Surf mode switching is not available — what it ships with is what you ride
  • The highback arrives with forward lean pre-loaded; out of the box it is not neutral
  • Most expensive of the six Jones bindings we stock
  • Brand new model — no predecessor, no independent on-snow reviews. Nobody can tell you how it feels on snow yet
  • Warranty is lifetime on the Hanger and Post only; one year on every other component

Not For

Park riders — 7/10 freestyle is the lowest of the six Jones bindings we stock. Also not for beginners or early intermediates, riders chasing a light setup, or anyone who likes tuning response by swapping bushings and flipping straps. And boots below US 7.5 / EU 40: we stock M and L only.

Common Questions

Do I still have to use the straps on the Zenith FASE?
Yes. The Zenith FASE keeps a real ankle strap and a real toe strap, each with its own ratchet. What FASE changes is who does the work: the AutoBack highback shuts by itself as your boot goes in, and the ankle ladder stays connected so you strap in one-handed.
Will the Jones Zenith FASE fit my snowboard?
It ships with a universal mounting disk covering all three mainstream patterns — 4x4 inserts, 2x4 inserts and Burton’s EST/Channel. Check your own board’s insert pattern before ordering; a binding that will not mount is a return, not an adjustment.
What size Jones Zenith FASE do I need?
Binding size follows your boot, not your weight or your height. Jones’s chart puts a US 7.5–10 / EU 40–43 boot in an M and a US 10.5+ / EU 43.5+ boot in an L. We stock M and L only, so below a US 7.5 / EU 40 boot we do not have a size for you in this model.
What do the carbon parts get you over the Jones Mercury FASE?
Four parts on the Zenith carry a [NEW] tag and a carbon or higher-density spec where the Mercury FASE runs a plainer version: the Fusion+ XR-C baseplate (carbon-injected, against a glass-nylon composite), the AsymCore Carbon highback (stiff, against mid-stiff), the VertEx ankle strap and the ImpactCush+ footbed. Jones describes each one.
What is the warranty on Jones bindings?
Jones publishes a lifetime warranty on the binding Hanger and Post, and a one-year warranty on all other binding components. Its FASE marketing separately uses the bare phrase “lifetime warranty” — go by the two specific terms, not the headline.
Is the Jones Zenith FASE good for park?
It is the weakest of the Jones bindings we stock for park: Jones scores it 7/10 freestyle, against 10/10 freeride. It is the stiffest binding on our Jones wall at 5/5, with a carbon highback and pre-loaded forward lean. If your season is jib laps and side hits, take something softer.
