Flex 85
MediumLast Width
101mm— Medium (100–101mm)
A women's-specific version of the three-piece Cabrio, with a softer 85 flex that's friendlier for lighter or less aggressive skiers. The external kinetic tongue still delivers that smooth, progressive flex feel — you just don't have to muscle through it. At 101mm it fits the same medium-volume foot shape, so if you tried the 100 and it felt too stiff but the shell fit great, this is the answer.
The IF Sport liner is identical to the 100 — heat-moldable, decent heel hold, insulated footbed. For someone stepping out of rentals into their first real boot, this is a solid pick. If you're already a confident intermediate skiing hard groomers, go straight to the 100.
Strengths
- +Cabrio three-piece flex is smooth even at 85 — no harshness on choppy snow
- +101mm medium volume fits a wide range of average feet without modification
- +Same adjustable forward lean (12°/14°) as the stiffer models
Best For
Lighter or progressing intermediate women who want the Cabrio flex feel without fighting a stiff boot.
Limitations
- −No walk mode — not ideal if you do a lot of hiking to terrain
- −85 flex gets soft fast for skiers over 160lb pushing hard on steeps
- −No BOA option — purely buckle closure
Not For
Strong intermediates or advanced women over 160lb — the 100 or 120 flex will hold up better at speed. Men should look at the Cabrio MV 90 or MV 100 instead.
Common Questions
- Who should choose the Cabrio MV 85 over the MV 100?
- Skiers under about 160lb, those coming from rental boots, or anyone who skis mostly groomed blues and easy blacks. The 85 flex lets you flex the boot without fighting it, which builds better technique. If you ski aggressively or weigh more, the 100 is the better investment.
- Can I upgrade to stiffer flex later if I improve?
- You would need a different boot — flex is built into the shell and cuff plastic. But since both the MV 85 and MV 100 share the same 101mm last shape, your custom footbeds and insoles will transfer over.
