The Cabrio MV 85 W IF is Dalbello's three-piece cabrio-construction boot built around a 101 mm medium-volume last — the key spec that determines who this boot actually works for. The shell is a classic three-part cabrio: a lower shell, a separate upper cuff, and an external Kinetic Response Tongue that sits on the outside of the cuff and governs how the flex loads and releases. That design lets the boot flex in a more even, progressive arc than a traditional overlap, which intermediate skiers feel as a forgiving, consistent build-up of pressure rather than a sudden wall. At flex 85, you have enough resistance to hold an edge with purpose on groomed terrain and into light powder, but not so much that it punishes a skier who isn't yet driving hard from the hips. Closure is three-buckle with Dalbello's Dynalink ankle buckle — positioned low and coaxially aligned with the pivot — plus a 40 mm power strap. The Dynalock mechanism locks that critical ankle buckle down cleanly with one finger. Inside is the women's IF (Instant Fit) SPORT W liner, which is fully heat-moldable through Dalbello's MyFit process — bring it to the shop, we put it in the oven, and the foam wraps your foot specifically rather than a generic shape. GripWalk soles come mounted standard, which matters for getting around the base area without risking your knees on a flat parking lot — just note that a GripWalk sole (ISO 23223) needs a binding certified to accept it — GripWalk-specific, MNC, or MN. It will not sit correctly in a binding that only accepts an ISO 5355 alpine sole, so have a technician read the certified sole types off your binding before you mount.

This boot is built for intermediate-to-solid-intermediate women skiers on a medium-volume foot — think a foot that fits reasonably well in a standard shoe width without excessive room or pinching. If your foot is narrow with a low instep, the LV version of the Cabrio line (99 mm last) will give you the heel hold this one cannot. If your foot runs genuinely wide or high-volume, the women's Cabrio doesn't go wider than this 101 mm last — the only roomier cabrio is the unisex Cabrio Max IF at 103 mm, so come talk to us before you assume the 101 will pack out enough, because cramming a wide foot into a too-small last and relying on the heat mold to fix it rarely works cleanly. And if you are an advanced or expert skier who actually charges, the 85 flex will max out on you; you want to be looking at the Cabrio MV 95 W or MV 100. A women's-specific version of the three-piece Cabrio, with a softer 85 flex that's friendlier for lighter or less aggressive skiers. The external kinetic tongue still delivers that smooth, progressive flex feel — you just don't have to muscle through it. At 101mm it fits the same medium-volume foot shape, so if you tried the 100 and it felt too stiff but the shell fit great, this is the answer.

The IF Sport liner is identical to the 100 — heat-moldable, decent heel hold, insulated footbed. For someone stepping out of rentals into their first real boot, this is a solid pick. If you're already a confident intermediate skiing hard groomers, go straight to the 100.
