The Union Contact is a soft, freestyle-first snowboard binding — flex 5 on Union's own scale — riding on the brand's reduced-footprint Mini Disk for a loose, surfy ride. Union has pulled it back into the 26/27 line as the affordable, playful option in its Mini Disk freestyle range, and the brand's own ratings agree: freestyle is where it scores highest, with all-mountain and freeride a step behind.
That character comes straight from the hardware. The small Mini Disk footprint leaves more of the board free to bend underfoot, a soft asymmetric highback keeps the response gentle, and the Hot Press EVA bushing softens landings and chatter. What you get is a forgiving park binding for presses, butters and side hits rather than a stiff, driven chassis for hard charging.
Reach for the Contact if you want a surfy freestyle feel at a lower price. Look elsewhere if you ride stiff and fast: in Union's own line the Force is the versatile all-mountain binding, the Falcor covers steep freeride, and the Strata is the premium park pick that sits above the Contact. Tell us how you actually ride and we will point you to the right one.
Two practical notes before you order. The Mini Disk bolts only to boards cut for 4x2 or Burton Channel inserts — it will not mount on a 4x4-only deck or Burton's older 3D three-hole layout, so check what yours uses. And pick your size by boot, not body weight; the Contact runs S through L, with no XL. A binding ships on its own, so we will mount it to your board and dial in your size and stance in the shop.
