Union Charger Snowboard Bindings 26/27

The 26/27 Union Charger is a responsive splitboard binding built around Union’s pinless tour-to-ride interface. Union marks the flex at 7/10. Its highest official scores are 9 for Performance and Freeride; All-Mountain is 7 and Freestyle is 6. Those are Union ratings, not PTO field-test scores, but the priority is clear: efficient transitions and firm backcountry response come before soft freestyle movement.

An S3 baseplate in EXP Duraflex ST sits underfoot, paired with the matching EXP4 highback. Union’s Pinless Transition System removes separate loose connector pins from the tour/ride changeover. Boxed hardware covers the ride disk, touring bracket and emergency spares. Solid-board duty comes through the Quiver Disk on 4x2 inserts. Union lists the complete pair at 2.10 kg.

Splitboard compatibility is not the same as ordinary resort-disk compatibility. For the split deck, the Charger disk follows the Voile pattern. A different supplied disk serves 4x2 inserts on a solid deck. Choose size from the boot: S fits US Men’s 5.5–7.5, M fits 8–10 and L fits 10.5–13 on Union’s chart. Never size from rider weight.

The included hardware makes it a system purchase rather than a bare binding. That is useful only when every interface is understood and transitions have been practiced before leaving controlled terrain.

Choose the Charger for experienced splitboarders who value fast transitions, a flex-7 platform and a freeride-weighted setup. Skip it for resort-only use, for a rider seeking a soft binding, or for a board outside the published interfaces.
