Description
The Union Force Team is an all-mountain snowboard binding — the team-spec version of Union's Force, sharing that model's Camber Disk platform while adding upgraded parts and shedding weight. Union rates it 7/10, a mid-stiff flex, and scores it the same for all-mountain as the regular Force.
The changes are in the kit and the numbers on the scale. Union fits a team highback, a reworked ankle strap and magnesium ratchets, moves the strap adjusters to a pins-and-lock design, and drops the pair to 2.00 kg from the standard Force's 2.20. It calls these upgrades for response and durability without saying by how much. Canting comes built in.
Reach for it if you ride the whole hill on a mid-stiff setup and would rather have pro-spec parts and less weight than the lowest price. Look at the standard Force to save money or to get an XL shell, the Falcor if freeride charge is your priority, or the stiffer Atlas Pro for maximum response. Two practical notes before you order. First, the disk: it bolts to boards cut for 4x2, 4x4 and Burton Channel inserts, but the older Burton 3D three-hole layout is a no-go, so check what your deck uses. The Union Force Team is the standard Force wearing a pro-spec kit. It runs the same S9 Duraflex ST baseplate and the same full-size Camber Disk as the regular Force, carries the same flex 7/10 on Union's scale, and earns the same Union all-mountain score of 9. What changes is the hardware bolted to that chassis and the weight: at 2.00 kg per pair it is 0.20 kg lighter than the 2.20 kg standard Force, which is unusual for the dressed-up model in a family.
The upgrade is components, not a new ride. The Force Team swaps in a Team-spec S21 highback, an upgraded Hybrid ankle strap and magnesium S1 ratchets in place of the standard Force's S19 highback, Exoframe strap and S2 ratchets, and moves to a Pins-and-Quick-Lock strap adjustment. Union frames these as upgrades for response, durability and control, but it does not say by how much. The baseplate, disk, heelcup, toe strap and steel hardware are shared with the regular Force, so the platform underfoot is a known quantity — and by Union's own numbers, so is the feel. Three of its four terrain scores are identical to the standard Force; only Union's performance self-rating ticks up, to 8 from 7.
Because the ride is shared, the choice between the two comes down to parts, weight, price and sizing. The standard Force is cheaper and offers an XL shell; the Force Team, at $369.95, is S, M and L only. If you already like the Force's mid-stiff all-mountain feel and want the lighter, pro-spec build, the Team is the pick. If you ride mostly at speed and want more freeride charge and float, Union points you to the Falcor, which it rates freeride 10 to the Force Team's 7 and builds on lighter forged carbon. Two things to settle before you order. First, mounting: the Camber Disk fits 4x2, 4x4 and Burton Channel boards but not Burton's older 3D three-hole pattern, so it will not mount a 3D deck. Second, sizing follows your boot, not your weight, and the Force Team runs S, M and L only — there is no XL, so bigger-footed riders are pushed back to the standard Force. Union does not print the boot-size range each shell covers, so send us your boot and we will confirm the fit. And note what this binding is not: a snowboard binding has no DIN and no release like a ski binding — it holds your boot to the board, and its numbers describe feel and response, not protection. Technology
Camber Disk chassis
The same S9 Duraflex ST baseplate and full-size Camber Disk that carry the standard Force. Union tunes the Camber Disk to preserve the board's natural camber flex underfoot rather than dampen it. This chassis is unchanged on the Team.
S21 Team Duraflex ST highback
The team-spec highback that replaces the standard Force's S19. Union positions it as a pro-level part for added response, but does not quantify how much stiffer or more responsive it is than the S19 it replaces.
Hybrid 1.0 ankle strap
Upgraded over the standard Force's Exoframe 6.0. A hybrid strap blends a molded PU core with a more conforming outer, aiming for a mix of response and wrap. Union calls it the Upgraded Ankle Strap Design.
Magnesium S1 ratchets
Magnesium ratchets on a steel base, one step up from the standard Force's S2. Magnesium ladders shave weight over steel or composite — part of why the Team comes in lighter than the model it dresses up.
