The Union Astra Step On is a women's step-in snowboard binding: you click into it with Burton Step On boots and go, with no straps to buckle when you unload. Union pegs the flex at a mid 6 and scores it highest for all-mountain riding, so it is built to be quick and versatile rather than a stiff, hard-charging tool.
Its women's chassis is molded in a softer Duraflex ST than the firmer CB tune on the unisex Atlas, so the Astra feels playful and forgiving instead of stiff. The boot drops onto three connection points and clicks shut — two under the toe, one behind the heel — so leaving the lift takes a second, not a session of ratcheting. There is no canting.
Reach for it if you already ride Burton Step On boots, or plan to, and want the fastest way in and out of your bindings. Look elsewhere if you want to keep riding your current strap boots, mix boot brands, or fine-tune ankle and toe tension from run to run — a step-in system gives all of that up for speed. The women's Astra is the softer, lighter counterpart to the unisex Atlas Step On, and Union's Juliet is the women's strap option if you want boot and board freedom instead.
Two practical notes before you order. On mounting, the Step On disk bolts to boards cut for 2x4 inserts and to the Burton Channel, so check what your deck uses. On size, pick by your boot rather than body weight; the women's Astra tops out at L, and Union has not published a per-size boot chart for 26/27. A binding ships on its own, so we will mount it to your board and help you match your Step On boot size in the shop.
