The Union Atlas Step On is a strapless step-in snowboard binding for the 2026/27 season that clicks your boot straight onto the baseplate — a Step On system that runs only with Burton Step On boots, not the strap boots most riders already own. Union pegs the flex at a medium 6 and gives it a 9 all-mountain score, with freestyle and freeride marked at 7.
The whole appeal is speed. You step in standing up rather than sitting to thread an ankle and toe strap, because hooks at the front and back of the boot lock onto a carbon-infused chassis. An adjustable toe ramp and a two-stage lean adjuster let you set the feel. It is a convenience-and-comfort design, not protection: this binding has no release and does nothing for you in a fall.
Choose it if you already ride, or plan to buy, Burton Step On boots and want the quickest way on and off the chair. Look at Union's strap Atlas if you would rather keep any-boot freedom, a firmer feel and canting, or at the women's Astra for a lighter option. The catch is genuine: picking Step On also picks your boots.
Two details to settle before ordering. For mounting, the disks suit 4x2 insert decks and the Burton Channel but skip the 4x4 layout, so confirm what your board is drilled for. For sizing, go by your boot rather than your body weight; the range covers S to XL. A binding arrives on its own, so bring your board and boots and we will mount it and set your size and stance in the shop.
