1 / 14Tyrolia Protector+ Attack 14 GW Ski Bindings 26/27
In Stock — Ready to Ship
Description
The Tyrolia PROTECTOR+ ATTACK 14 GW is a freeski binding with a 4-14 adjustment range and a heel engineered to release vertically and horizontally. The brake ships in the box in all three widths; MSRP is $475.
What Tyrolia claims. The heel's injury-related claims are Tyrolia's own. The cited ACL figure — strain reduced by more than 50% — comes from finite-element simulations at the University of Innsbruck, not from field injury data. No binding prevents injury. Tyrolia credits the FR PRO 3 toe with constant release values, and its revised AFD adjusts to different boot sole heights.
Who it is for. Skiers in boots covered by Tyrolia's statement — adult alpine per ISO 5355 Type A, adult GripWalk per ISO 23223 Type A — whose technician-determined release value falls inside the range. Tyrolia's own positioning labels read Terrain "Freestyle" and Skill Level "Expert"; "ready for use in any terrain" is its phrase.
Who should look elsewhere. If your technician sets your release value above 14, the sibling PROTECTOR+ ATTACK 16 GW is built for that. Soles outside the two adult norms — touring and junior soles included — are not covered by Tyrolia's compatibility statement.
What we do. Our 26/27 buy covers three of Tyrolia's four colorways — matte black, matte white and pink; no sand — each in all three brake widths. Tyrolia's own disclaimer requires mounting, adjustment and service by an authorized retailer or technician. Our certified technician mounts the binding, matches the brake to your ski waist, and sets your release value from your parameters — never from a product page.

The PROTECTOR+ ATTACK 14 GW is the Attack freeski binding that carries Tyrolia's FHR (Full Heel Release) heel — 'Protector' is the technology's name, not a safety promise. Tyrolia describes the heel as releasing through 180° — horizontally as well as vertically — and as able to lower release values in forward and especially backward twisting falls; that is Tyrolia's claim, not a PTO guarantee, and no binding prevents injury.
Tyrolia's compatibility statement covers adult soles in two norms: alpine ISO 5355 Type A and GripWalk ISO 23223 Type A. The heel's cost, by Tyrolia's numbers: 1290 g per binding and 22.5 mm stand height, versus 1025 g and 17 mm for the standard ATTACK 14 GW on the same 4-14 range — $475 MSRP against $350 with brake. Brakes ship in the box at 95, 110 and 120 mm — the ATTACK 16 and 17 GW rows do not.
Best For
All-mountain and freeski skiers in adult alpine (ISO 5355 Type A) or adult GripWalk (ISO 23223 Type A) boots, whose technician-set release value falls inside the 4-14 range.
Not For
Release values above 14 — that is the PROTECTOR+ ATTACK 16 GW's job. Anyone minimizing weight and stand height — see the standard ATTACK 14 GW. Boots outside the two covered adult sole norms.
Common Questions
- What is the difference between the PROTECTOR+ ATTACK 14 GW and the ATTACK 14 GW?
- The heel. Both run the same 4-14 adjustment range; the Protector version carries Tyrolia's Full Heel Release heel, the standard version a conventional heel.
- Is the PROTECTOR+ ATTACK 14 GW compatible with GripWalk boots?
- Yes — Tyrolia lists adult GripWalk boots (ISO 23223 Type A) alongside adult alpine boots (ISO 5355 Type A). Soles outside those two adult norms, such as touring or junior soles, are not covered by Tyrolia's statement; our technician verifies boot-binding fit at mounting.
