The Burton Cartel Re:Flex is a men's two-strap snowboard binding on Burton's Re:Flex disc mount, rated Happy Medium, the middle step of Burton's three-label stiffness scale. Burton frames it as time-tested versatility that balances comfort and control.
Its single-component baseplate is a 30% short-glass/nylon composite, which Burton says keeps response and feel consistent. A Hammockstrap 2.0 ankle strap and the original Supergrip Capstrap, which wraps the whole toe and pulls the boot rearward into the heel cup, close on Smooth Glide buckles, with FullBED cushioning underfoot. Forward lean is set with a DialFLAD dial.
Burton's guide pairs this tier with all-mountain riding and with riders who have the basics down and want to keep improving. It is the wrong binding for riders who need the firmest of Burton's three labels or a Heel Hammock on the hi-back; this 26/27 page lists neither.
Burton says Re:Flex reaches 2x4, 4x4 and Channel patterns once the right disc is fitted, and older 3D-pattern Burton boards need a 3D Hinge Disc that is not in the box. Pick the size from your boot, with M for US men's 8-11 and L from 10 up. Burton rates the Cartel Re:Flex Happy Medium and prices it at $299.95, between the $189.95 Freestyle Re:Flex, which carries the same label, and the $349.95 Cartel X Re:Flex. Two of the parts that change for the extra money over the Freestyle are the forward-lean adjuster, a DialFLAD dial where the Freestyle has a MicroFLAD lever, and the ankle strap, a Hammockstrap 2.0 where the Freestyle has a Reactstrap.
Choose the Cartel Re:Flex over the Freestyle if you want to set forward lean with a dial and ride the Hammockstrap 2.0; if a lever and a Reactstrap will do, the Freestyle gives you the same Happy Medium label for less. Step up to the Cartel X Re:Flex only if you want Burton's stiff tier and the extra parts its page lists.
