PTO Verdict

An Evil Twin+ in anniversary clothing — carbon-loaded premium construction with the widest size range in the Evil Twin family.

Best for: Intermediate to advanced freestyle riders who want premium twin performance. Collectors who appreciate Bataleon's heritage. Riders who need the 151, 156W, or 159 size that the clearance Evil Twin+ doesn't offer.

Not for: Beginners — the carbon-enhanced construction rewards riders with existing technique. Pure powder or freeride riders. Riders who don't value the carbon upgrades over the standard Evil Twin.

Description

The Evil Twin 20Y is a 20th-anniversary edition of Bataleon's flagship park twin, and the technology underneath the neon yellow throwback graphic is what the board has always been about. Bataleon's Twin 3BT base shape runs positive camber tip to tail — so you get real edge hold, genuine pop off lips, and a platform that locks into carves — but the base itself is 3D-shaped, lifting the contact points at the widest sections of the nose and tail off the snow. The SideKick tips take that further, curving outward like a hull beyond the widest point. What that means in practice: edge catches on rails are dramatically reduced, landings are more forgiving when you come in slightly off-angle, and edge-to-edge transitions feel smooth without any of the twitchiness you'd get from a traditional flat-base cambered twin. The Carbon Super Tube — a hollow carbon cylinder running down the spine — adds snap and ollie energy without stiffening the torsional flex. At a medium 5/10 flex, this board presses and butters willingly, holds a true carve when you push it, and doesn't punish mistakes the way a stiffer park board will.

This is built for the intermediate-to-advanced rider who splits time between park laps and resort runs — someone comfortable in the pipe, hitting kickers, grinding rails, and lapping side hits — and who wants one board that handles all of it without compromise. The true twin shape and centered stance mean switch riding is as natural as riding forward, which matters the moment you start caring about how your tricks look in both directions. Who should not buy it: if you are a dedicated jib specialist who wants the softest, most surfy press machine possible, the Bataleon Disaster is built for exactly that with its Jib 3BT shape and softer flex. And if you already ride confidently at speed and want more snap, carbon response, and a faster base than this board provides, step up to the Evil Twin Plus — it is everything the Evil Twin is, with meaningfully more pop and a higher ceiling for advanced park riding.

The take

An Evil Twin+ in anniversary clothing — carbon-loaded premium construction with the widest size range in the Evil Twin family.

The Evil Twin 20Y is Bataleon's 20th anniversary edition, and here's what matters: it's an Evil Twin+ in anniversary clothing. Same premium construction — carbon Super Tubes, carbon stringers, Ultra Light Core, Tri-Ax fiberglass, Hyper Glide S sintered base — wrapped in a throwback neon yellow graphic pulled from the original limited-edition Evil Twin colorway, plus the OG duotone hand base and new smiley face logo.

The ride is the same carbon-loaded, lighter, snappier version of the Evil Twin. Medium camber, true twin, 3BT with SideKick, flex 5/10. Poppy, catch-free, park-dominant but mountain-capable. The 3BT base lifts edges between your feet for fewer catches and smoother transitions — a signature Bataleon advantage that makes switch riding and rail approaches more forgiving.

The real difference between the 20Y and the clearance Evil Twin+ comes down to size availability and graphics. The 20Y comes in five sizes (151 through 159) vs only 154 and 157 for the clearance Evil Twin+. At only $8 more than a standard Evil Twin, you're getting a significant construction upgrade. If you need a 151, 156W, or 159, or you love the anniversary graphic, the 20Y is the way to go.

Bindings we'd pair with it

Mount point: Bataleon publishes an insert count (24) but no pattern for this board — tell us which bindings you are mounting and we will settle the hardware with you in the shop. Our pick: Bataleon Astro AsymWrap.
