Technology

Carbonic-x Lens

Smith’s base lens material — an impact-resistant polycarbonate that gives a clear view of the terrain. It is the value tier, without the contrast-tuned tint of a ChromaPop lens.

Cylindrical Lens Shape

A lens that curves side to side but stays flat top to bottom, keeping the goggle low-profile and the price down while still offering a wide field of view.

Small-Fit Responsive Frame

A compact frame sized for narrower faces, built to flex and adapt to your contours for a precise seal, with dual-layer compression-molded face foam.

Fog-X Anti-Fog

An anti-fog treatment bonded to the inner lens that resists condensation, so the view stays clear through cold, damp days.

Features

  • ·Cylindrical Carbonic-x lens for a clear, impact-resistant view
  • ·Small-fit frame sized for narrower faces
  • ·Fog-X anti-fog treatment on the inner lens
  • ·Dual-slide strap for quick size adjustment
  • ·Silicone-backed strap for a secure hold on a helmet
  • ·Designed to vent cleanly with Smith helmets; ships in a microfiber bag

The Smith Tribute solves a specific problem: standard goggles that sit too wide, letting light and cold leak in at the temples. It takes Smith’s value formula — a cylindrical Carbonic-x lens with Fog-X venting — and packs it into a small-fit frame for narrower faces. The Carbonic-x lens is the entry-level glass: impact-resistant and clear, without the flat-light contrast a ChromaPop lens delivers, which is the honest trade at this price.

The small frame is what you are paying attention to here. Dual-layer, compression-molded foam and a Responsive Fit chassis are dimensioned to seal on a smaller face instead of gapping at the cheekbones, and a dual-slide strap makes it easy to dial the tension one-handed over a helmet. The silicone-backed band keeps the goggle from creeping, and it vents cleanly with a matching Smith helmet so the Fog-X inner lens can hold off condensation on damp Cascade days.

Reach for the Tribute if a standard goggle has always felt oversized and you want a clear, well-vented lens without spending on premium optics. Larger faces will find it tight — the Transfer, its medium-fit sibling, shares the same lens and venting in a bigger frame. And if reading flat light is your priority, move up to a ChromaPop goggle; the Tribute is honest about sitting at the base tier.

Safety — read this

A goggle shields your eyes from wind, glare, and flying snow and gives you the contrast to read terrain; it is not head protection. Pair it with a certified helmet.

Strengths

  • +Small-fit frame seals on narrower faces that standard goggles gap
  • +Cylindrical Carbonic-x lens gives a clear, impact-resistant view
  • +Dual-slide strap dials tension quickly one-handed over a helmet
  • +Fog-X inner lens and helmet venting fight fogging
  • +Silicone-backed strap keeps the goggle planted on a shell

Best For

Skiers and riders with smaller faces who want a low-profile, well-vented goggle at a value price.

Limitations

  • Base Carbonic-x lens lacks ChromaPop’s flat-light contrast
  • Ships with one lens and no spare in the box
  • Small fit runs tight for medium and larger faces
  • Not an OTG design for wearing eyeglasses underneath

Not For

Anyone with a medium-to-large face (the Transfer fits better), those who need flat-light contrast (choose a ChromaPop lens), or eyeglass wearers who want an OTG design.

Common Questions

Is the Smith Tribute good for small faces?
Yes. The Tribute is built as a small-fit goggle, with a compact frame and foam sized to seal on narrower faces that gap in a standard goggle. Larger faces will find it tight and should look at the Transfer.
Does the Tribute use a ChromaPop lens?
No. The Tribute uses Smith’s base Carbonic-x lens for impact resistance and a clear view, trading ChromaPop’s contrast boost for a lower price. Choose a ChromaPop model if flat-light contrast is your priority.
What is the difference between the Tribute and the Transfer?
Both share the cylindrical Carbonic-x lens and Fog-X venting. The Tribute is a small fit for narrower faces, while the Transfer is a medium fit for average-to-larger faces.
