Technology

Carbonic-x Lens

Smith’s base lens material — an impact-resistant polycarbonate that gives a clear view of the terrain. It is the value tier, without the contrast-tuned tint of a ChromaPop lens.

Cylindrical Lens Shape

A lens that curves side to side but stays flat top to bottom, keeping the goggle low-profile and the price down while still offering a wide field of view.

Fog-X Anti-Fog

An anti-fog treatment bonded to the inner lens that resists condensation, so the view stays clear through cold, damp days.

Responsive Fit Frame

A frame designed to flex and adapt to the contours of your face for a precise seal, paired with dual-layer compression-molded face foam.

Features

  • ·Cylindrical Carbonic-x lens for a clear, impact-resistant view
  • ·Fog-X anti-fog treatment on the inner lens
  • ·Medium Responsive Fit frame with dual-layer face foam
  • ·Low Bridge Fit version available for lower nose bridges
  • ·Silicone-backed strap for a secure hold on a helmet
  • ·Designed to vent cleanly with Smith helmets; ships in a microfiber bag

The Smith Transfer is the goggle you reach for when the optics budget is small and you still want a full-size, low-profile fit. Its cylindrical Carbonic-x lens is Smith’s entry-level glass: impact-resistant and clear, but without the contrast boost a ChromaPop lens gives you in flat, socked-in light. That is the core trade at this price, and it is a fair one — you get a durable, honest lens rather than a marketing story.

Where the money does show up is fit and venting. The Responsive Fit frame with dual-layer, compression-molded foam adapts to a medium face, and the goggle is cut to channel air through a matching Smith helmet so the Fog-X inner lens can do its job on wet Cascade mornings. A silicone-backed strap keeps it locked to a shell. For lower nose bridges or wider cheekbones, the Transfer also comes in a Low Bridge Fit, which solves the gap-and-pinch problem many faces have with a standard frame.

Consider the Transfer if you want a dependable daily-driver goggle and would rather spend on lift tickets than lens tech. Skiers with smaller faces should look at the Tribute, its small-fit sibling, which shares the same Carbonic-x lens and Fog-X venting in a shorter frame. And if flat-light contrast matters most to you, step up to a ChromaPop goggle — the Transfer is honest about being the base tier.

Safety — read this

A goggle shields your eyes from wind, glare, and flying snow and gives you the contrast to read terrain; it is not head protection. Pair it with a certified helmet.

Strengths

  • +Medium Responsive Fit frame adapts to a range of faces
  • +Low Bridge Fit version available for lower nose bridges

Best For

Skiers and riders who want a low-profile, well-vented goggle at a value price and don’t need premium lens tech.

Limitations

  • Base Carbonic-x lens lacks ChromaPop’s flat-light contrast
  • Ships with one lens and no spare in the box
  • Medium fit runs large for smaller faces
  • Not an OTG design for wearing eyeglasses underneath

Not For

Anyone who needs flat-light contrast (choose a ChromaPop lens), has a smaller face (the Tribute fits better), or wears eyeglasses under their goggle (this isn’t an OTG design).

Common Questions

Does the Smith Transfer use a ChromaPop lens?
No. The Transfer uses Smith’s base Carbonic-x lens, chosen for impact resistance and a clear view. It trades ChromaPop’s contrast boost for a lower price. Step up to a ChromaPop model if flat-light contrast is your priority.
What is the difference between the Transfer and the Tribute?
Both share the cylindrical Carbonic-x lens and Fog-X venting. The Transfer is a medium fit for average-to-larger faces, while the Tribute is a small fit built for smaller faces.
Does the Transfer come in a version for lower nose bridges?
Yes. Smith offers the Transfer in a Low Bridge Fit for faces with a lower nose bridge or wider, higher cheekbones. It keeps the same lens and frame comfort with an adjusted foam and fit.
