Description
The Burton Step On 2026 is a women's strapless snowboard binding for women's Step On boots, built on a Re:Flex disc and an 18% short-glass/nylon baseplate. Burton rates it Happy Medium, its middle Personality tier, gives no flex number, and Burton's Re:Flex documents name 4x4, 2x4 and Channel boards for the disc.
Two hooks at the toe and one clip at the heel hold the boot, and a lever on the side of the heel cup lets you out. The baseplate is single-component with Re:Flex FullBED cushioning, and forward lean is set with a #2 screwdriver through two screws inside the hi-back. Burton publishes no weight. For 2027 Burton sells the same style, 172841, as the Step On Re:Flex, in new colors, with the same published Tech Specs and size chart.
It suits women already in women's Step On boots, or buying them, who don't mind using a screwdriver whenever they change forward lean. Burton matches Step On bindings to Step On boots exclusively and keeps men's and women's Step On gear apart, so this is the wrong binding for anyone in strap boots or men's Step On boots. The Step On Escapade keeps the same baseplate material and tier but brings Burton's Kickback Hammock hi-back plus a DialFLAD dial for tool-free lean. The men's Step On lists a 30% short-glass baseplate against 18% here; Burton does not explain the difference.
Size it from your boot, not your weight: S takes women's 5-6, M 6.5-8.5 and L 9-11. When you buy, we match the binding size to your Step On boot, and our technician checks which disc your board needs, since Burton's documents disagree on what ships in the box. On boards bought from us, we mount it and set the Gas Pedal to your boot size. Older 3D-pattern Burton boards need Burton's 3D Hinge Disc, sold separately.

Flex
Happy Medium
This is the brand’s own wording, not a number, and it does not compare across brands.
The 2026 Burton Step On for women is a strapless binding on a Re:Flex disc, with a single-component baseplate of 18% short-glass/nylon composite, Re:Flex FullBED cushioning and a hi-back whose forward lean changes with a #2 screwdriver. Burton puts it in Happy Medium, the middle of its three Personality tiers, and publishes no flex number or weight.
The Burton Step On Escapade's 2026 EST page and 2027 Re:Flex page both list the same 18% short-glass baseplate material and Happy Medium tier as this binding. The Step On Lexa X 2027 lists DialFLAD on an 18% short-glass baseplate, and its page lists a Stiff Disc.
Against the men's Burton Step On 2026, the women's version lists 18% short-glass in the baseplate where the men's lists 30%. Both carry the Happy Medium tier and the same screwdriver lean, and Burton does not explain the material difference. Read it as a spec difference, nothing more.
On snow, a one-day independent review of the 2019-2021 women's Step On found the medium flex a little more aggressive than a normal medium binding, and rated stance width adjustment great on a Channel board and average on the 4-hole disc.
The women's Burton Step On Re:Flex 2027 is the same style number, 172841, under a new name. Burton's two pages list the same Re:Flex mounting, baseplate, Step On FLAD, FullBED cushioning, Happy Medium tier and size chart; the documented differences are colors and marketing wording.
Boot pairing decides whether the women's Burton Step On works for you at all. Burton says Step On bindings work with Step On boots alone and that men's and women's Step On products must not be combined, because mismatched pairs can malfunction. Size runs from the boot: S fits women's 5 to 6, M 6.5 to 8.5 and L 9 to 11, with no overlap.
On the board side, Burton's Re:Flex documentation names 4x4, 2x4 and The Channel, and 3D-pattern Burton boards made before 2014 need the separately sold 3D Hinge Disc. Burton's page does not say which disc is in the box, so our technician checks the disc against your board before mounting.
Technology
Step On connection
Burton's three-point connection: two toe hooks, one heel clip and a self-resetting release lever at the heel cup. Per Burton's manual, Step On bindings are not designed to release or to prevent injury.
Re:Flex mounting
Burton's hinged disc system, which Burton says improves board flex and feel while reducing weight. Boards with Burton's old 3D pattern need the 3D Hinge Disc, which is not included.
Single-Component Baseplate
A baseplate made of one material throughout, which Burton says gives consistent response and feel.
Step On FLAD
Burton's forward lean adjuster for Step On hi-backs, changed with a #2 screwdriver.
Gas Pedal
An adjustable toe ramp with settings marked in US boot sizes. Burton's manual says to set it to your boot size before mounting, to cut toe drag and help the toe connection engage.
Two-position heel clip
Burton's manual gives the heel clip a first position that locks even with snow under the boot and a final riding position reached by putting additional pressure onto the heel. Burton says both hold fully; position one can allow more boot movement.
Features
- ·Re:Flex FullBED cushioning
- ·Includes reground materials
Strengths
- +Step On toe hooks and a heel clip replace both straps.
- +Re:Flex disc mounts on 4x4, 2x4 and Channel boards, per Burton.
- +Heel clip's first position locks even with snow underfoot, per Burton.
- +Gas Pedal toe ramp settings are marked in US boot sizes.
Best For
Women in, or buying, women's Step On boots who want strap-free entry in Burton's Happy Medium tier and are fine setting forward lean with a screwdriver, on a 4x4, 2x4 or Channel board.
Limitations
- −Only women's Step On boots work in this binding, per Burton.
- −Forward lean changes need a #2 screwdriver.
- −No Kickback Hammock hi-back, unlike the Burton Step On Escapade.
- −Burton publishes no weight or numeric flex for this binding.
Not For
Anyone without women's Step On boots: Burton says Step On bindings work only with Step On boots, and this women's binding takes women's Step On boots only, since mixing men's and women's Step On products can malfunction. Riders who want to change forward lean without tools, which the Step On Escapade and Step On Lexa X do with DialFLAD. Riders who want a hammock hi-back, who should look at the Step On Escapade's Kickback Hammock. And riders who want Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier, which this Happy Medium binding is not.

Common Questions
- Burton women's Step On vs Step On Re:Flex: what is the difference?
- The women's Burton Step On 2026 and the women's Step On Re:Flex 2027 share style number 172841; Burton added Re:Flex to the name for 2027. Both Burton pages show the same Tech Specs: Re:Flex mounting, an 18% short-glass/nylon baseplate, screwdriver lean, FullBED, the Happy Medium tier and one size chart. Colors and marketing wording changed.
- Burton Step On vs Step On Escapade: which should I get?
- The Burton Step On Escapade adds a Kickback Hammock hi-back and DialFLAD, a dial for tool-free forward lean, per Burton. Both list an 18% short-glass baseplate and the Happy Medium tier. If you need neither the hammock nor a lean dial, the women's Step On is the simpler pick of the two.
- What size women's Burton Step On binding should I get?
- Size the women's Burton Step On from your women's Step On boot, not your weight. Burton's chart puts S at women's 5-6, M at 6.5-8.5 and L at 9-11, with no overlap between sizes. We match the binding to your boot when you buy.
- Can I use the women's Burton Step On with men's Step On boots?
- No. Burton's manual says women's Step On boots must use women's Step On bindings and men's boots men's bindings, and mixing them can malfunction. Regular strap boots do not work in any Step On binding either, per Burton.
- How is the women's Burton Step On different from the men's?
- The women's Burton Step On 2026 is sized to women's Step On boots and lists an 18% short-glass/nylon baseplate, where the men's Step On 2026 lists 30%. Burton rates both Happy Medium with the same screwdriver lean and does not explain the baseplate difference.
- Will the women's Burton Step On fit my board?
- Burton's Re:Flex documentation lists 4x4, 2x4 and The Channel for Re:Flex bindings; older Burton boards with the 3D pattern need the 3D Hinge Disc, sold separately. Burton's page does not list the disc in the box. Our technician checks the disc on your board before mounting.
