Description
The Burton Malavita Re:Flex 2026 is a men's two-strap snowboard binding built around a Heel Hammock hi-back and a DialFLAD lean dial. Burton rates it Happy Medium, the middle of its three Personality tiers, and its Re:Flex mounting takes 2x4, 4x4 and Channel boards with the matching disc.
Underfoot sits a single-component baseplate of 30% short-glass/nylon composite. A Leather Reactstrap holds the ankle and a Supergrip Capstrap 2.0 wraps the toe, both closed with Smooth Glide buckles. Burton says the Heel Hammock gives a snug heel fit with no heel slip while keeping a loose, freestyle feel. The dial sets forward lean; Burton says more lean quickens the response and less relaxes it. Burton's 2026 page names no cushioning system and gives no weight or flex number.
It suits riders who have the basics down and want one binding for the whole mountain, which is where Burton's stiffness guide places medium-flex bindings. For a stiffer binding, Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier is the step up. Step On boots need a different binding.
What changed for 26/27: the 2027 Malavita carries over the Re:Flex mounting, baseplate, Heel Hammock, dial, Happy Medium tier and size chart. Its spec sheet drops "Leather" and "2.0" from the strap names, its feature list adds FullBED cushioning and hi-back rotation, and the colors are new.
This listing carries size S alone, which Burton's chart puts at US men's 6-8 and US women's 5-9; Burton also makes M and L. Size it from your boot, not your weight; tell us yours and we check it against the S before you order. Burton's 2026 page does not say which disc ships in the box, and its other documents disagree. Older Burton 3D-pattern boards need the 3D Hinge Disc, sold separately. For boards bought from PTO, a technician checks the disc and mounts the binding at your stance and angles.

Burton Malavita Re:Flex
Malavita family · 2025/26
Flex
Happy Medium
This is the brand’s own wording, not a number, and it does not compare across brands.
The 2026 Burton Malavita Re:Flex is easiest to place next to the Cartel Re:Flex. Burton's spec sheets put both in the Happy Medium tier with a 30% short-glass/nylon baseplate and a DialFLAD lean dial. Past that shared core, each page lists something the other does not. The Malavita pairs a Leather Reactstrap and a Supergrip Capstrap 2.0 with the Heel Hammock hi-back. The Cartel's 26/27 specs list a Hammockstrap 2.0, a Supergrip Capstrap and FullBED cushioning, and no Heel Hammock. PTO's read: this is heel hold against cushioning. Take the Malavita if a loose heel is what bugs you in a binding; take the Cartel if you want a named cushioning system under the boot.
The Cartel X Re:Flex is the stiffer option. It sits in Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier on a 45% short-glass/nylon baseplate, and Burton's stiffness guide generally points that tier at experienced riders. Riders who already know they want a firmer binding should start there. The Freestyle Re:Flex shares the Happy Medium label but swaps the composite baseplate for polycarbonate and the dial for a MicroFLAD lever.
Burton Malavita 2027 vs 2026: Burton's two pages agree on the Re:Flex mounting system, the baseplate material, the Heel Hammock, DialFLAD, the Happy Medium tier and the size chart. The 2027 sheet names its straps Reactstrap and Supergrip Capstrap, and its feature list adds Re:Flex FullBED cushioning and a hi-back with independent rotation, neither of which appears on the 2026 page. Burton does not say whether the new strap names mean new parts. If a documented cushioning system matters to you, the 2027 page has one; otherwise the two years match on the core specs above.
Some gaps on the 2026 page matter for a careful buyer. Burton gives no weight, no flex number, no ability level and no cushioning system for it. The Cartel, Cartel X and Freestyle all list FullBED on their 26/27 pages. Also, Burton's own Re:Flex documents disagree on which disc comes in the box. The mounting guide lists Re:Flex for boards with 2x4, 4x4 or Channel inserts given the right disc, and older Burton 3D boards need the separate 3D Hinge Disc, so our technician checks the disc against your board before mounting a board bought from us.
Size is the hard limit on this page. The Malavita here comes in Black, size S, which Burton's chart matches to US men's 6 to 8 and US women's 5 to 9. Bigger boots need Burton's M or L, which this listing does not carry, and size always runs from the boot rather than rider weight.
Technology
Heel Hammock
A hi-back attribute that wraps the boot heel. Burton says it gives a snug fit on the heel with no heel slip and fast response, while leaving a loose, freestyle feel.
DialFLAD
Burton's DialFLAD system with Living Hinge uses a rotating dial to set the hi-back's forward lean. Burton says more lean gives an active, quicker response and less lean a more relaxed one.
Re:Flex mounting
Burton's disc mounting system, which Burton says improves board flex and feel while reducing weight. Boards with Burton's pre-2014 3D pattern need the 3D Hinge Disc, which is not included.
Single-Component Baseplate
A baseplate made of one material throughout, here a 30% short-glass/nylon composite, which Burton says gives consistent response and feel.
Supergrip Capstrap 2.0
A cap-style toe strap that Burton's strap guide says pulls the boot down and back into the heel cup, with dual-texture over-molding for more grip on the boot toe.
Smooth Glide Buckles
The ratchet buckles on both straps, which Burton says are easy to secure and attach smoothly.
Features
- ·Leather Reactstrap ankle strap
- ·Includes reground materials
Strengths
- +Heel Hammock hi-back holds the heel with no slip, per Burton.
- +DialFLAD changes forward lean with a turn of the dial.
- +Burton's Re:Flex list covers 2x4, 4x4 and Channel boards.
- +Supergrip Capstrap 2.0 adds dual-texture over-molding to grip the boot toe.
Best For
Riders in US men's 6-8 boots who want a two-strap binding in Burton's Happy Medium tier, with Burton's Heel Hammock on the hi-back and dial-set lean, on a 2x4, 4x4 or Channel board.
Limitations
- −This listing offers size S alone, for US men's 6-8 boots.
- −Burton publishes no weight or cushioning system for the 2026 Malavita.
- −Pre-2014 Burton 3D-pattern boards need an extra 3D Hinge Disc.
- −Riders wanting a stiff binding sit better in the Cartel X.
Not For
Riders whose boot is bigger than US men's 8, since this listing has size S alone even though Burton makes M and L. Riders who want Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier, where the Cartel X Re:Flex sits. Anyone in Step On boots, because the Malavita is a strap binding. Owners of older Burton 3D boards who do not want to buy the separate 3D Hinge Disc. And buyers who need a published weight or cushioning spec, which Burton's 2026 page does not give.

Common Questions
- Burton Malavita vs Cartel Re:Flex: what is the difference?
- The Burton Malavita Re:Flex has the Heel Hammock hi-back, which Burton says holds the heel with no slip, plus a Leather Reactstrap and Supergrip Capstrap 2.0. Burton's 26/27 Cartel Re:Flex page lists a Hammockstrap 2.0, the Supergrip Capstrap without the 2.0, and FullBED cushioning, but no Heel Hammock, while the 2026 Malavita page names no cushioning. Both share the Happy Medium tier, a 30% short-glass/nylon baseplate and DialFLAD.
- Burton Malavita 2027 vs 2026: what changed?
- The Burton Malavita 2027 keeps the 2026 Re:Flex mounting, 30% short-glass/nylon baseplate, Heel Hammock, DialFLAD, size chart and Happy Medium tier. On the 2027 sheet the straps read Reactstrap and Supergrip Capstrap, without 'Leather' or '2.0', and its features add FullBED cushioning and hi-back rotation. Colors change from Black to Warm Gray, Black / White and Black Fade.
- What size Burton Malavita should I get?
- Size the Burton Malavita from your boot, not your weight. Burton's size chart matches S to US men's 6-8, M to 8-11 and L to 10 and up; on the women's scale the S covers 5-9. This listing offers the S, so send us your boot size and model and we confirm the fit before you order.
- Will the Burton Malavita fit my board?
- Burton lists the Malavita's Re:Flex mounting for 2x4, 4x4 and Channel inserts when paired with the correct disc, and pre-2014 Burton 3D boards require the separately sold 3D Hinge Disc. Burton's own documents do not agree on the disc included. When we mount it on a board bought here, our technician checks the disc against the inserts first.
- Is the Burton Malavita good for beginners?
- The Burton Malavita sits in Burton's middle Personality tier, Happy Medium, and Burton gives it no level rating. Burton's stiffness guide says medium bindings suit riders who have grasped the basics and want to keep progressing, so PTO reads it as a fit once you are linking turns rather than on your first days.
