The take

No surprises. That's the point.

The Stance 80 is Salomon's groomer-first all-mountain ski for men. 80mm waist, poplar core, single titanal layer. It does exactly what you'd expect — carves well on hardpack, handles a little mixed snow, and doesn't ask much from the skier.

At 1,930g in the 169, it has real substance. The titanal layer gives it stability that lighter, cap-construction skis at this width can't match. It doesn't chatter on firm morning groomers. It holds an edge cleanly. 14m radius is medium — comfortable for most turn shapes.

Six sizes from 141 to 185 is a huge range. The 141 and 151 are usable for shorter or lighter skiers. The 185 gives taller men a proper platform.

This is not a ski that excites. It's a ski that works. Day in, day out, groomer after groomer. If you're an intermediate who wants something reliable to progress on, or an advanced skier who needs a dedicated frontside ski, the Stance 80 delivers without drama. It's the Honda Civic of skis.
