Flex 120
Very StiffLast Width
100mm— Medium (100–101mm)
The Mach1 MV 120 is the smarter pick for most advanced skiers in the Mach1 lineup. You get the same T-Drive flex mechanism, same C.A.S. heat-moldable shell, same GripWalk sole, and same 100mm medium-volume last as the 130 — but at flex 120 and 100g lighter (1970g vs 2070g). The Celliant liner adds infrared energy recycling that Tecnica claims improves circulation, and the adjustable tongue lets you fine-tune shin contact.
At $600 ($80 less than the 130), the MV 120 is arguably the best value in the Mach1 range. Flex 120 is plenty stiff for aggressive all-mountain skiing, and the lighter weight is noticeable on long days. Unless you're a very strong, heavy skier who needs 130 flex, the 120 gives you everything the 130 does at a more usable flex and lower weight.
Strengths
- +Same T-Drive and C.A.S. tech as the 130 at $80 less and 100g lighter
- +Celliant liner with infrared energy recycling for better circulation
- +Flex 120 is the sweet spot — stiff enough to charge, forgiving enough for all day
Best For
Advanced-to-expert medium-volume skiers who want Mach1 performance without the brutality of 130 flex.
Limitations
- −No walk mode — alpine-only boot
- −Still premium at $600
- −Medium 100mm last — wider feet should look at the HV 120 (103mm)
Not For
Wide feet (get the HV 120), intermediates (120 flex is demanding), touring skiers (no walk mode), or 200lb+ chargers who need 130.
Common Questions
- What is the difference between the MV 120 and MV 130?
- Same shell technology (T-Drive, C.A.S., GripWalk, 100mm last). The 120 is 10 points softer in flex, 100g lighter (1970g vs 2070g), $80 less, and has a Celliant liner instead of the High Performance liner. For most advanced skiers, the 120 is the better choice.
- What is Celliant in the liner?
- Celliant is a fiber technology that absorbs and recycles body heat as infrared energy. Tecnica claims it improves local blood circulation in the foot, which can help with warmth and reduced fatigue on long ski days.
