Description

The Minishred is Bataleon's entry-level board for the youngest riders — toddlers and young kids just finding their feet on snow, available in sizes from 85 to 120 cm. It runs Bataleon's 3BT (Triple Base Technology) with a low-camber profile, which means the base is subtly lifted at the contact points so the edges don't dig in before a young rider intends them to. SideKick amplifies this by raising the sidebase further out toward the nose and tail tips, so the board rolls from edge to edge easily and the tips track through chopped-up snow instead of catching. On flat terrain and gentle groomers, that low camber gives just enough rebound to make turning feel responsive without demanding precise technique. The full poplar wood core with hardwood beech stringers keeps the board light and easy to maneuver at a child's weight, and the Hyper Glide S sintered base is durable and fast. One thing parents should know: sintered bases run fast but they're wax-hungry, so a coat of wax every handful of days on snow keeps it gliding — skip it for a season and a sintered base dries out and slows down. It's a true twin shape, so riding direction doesn't matter, which means kids can experiment with riding switch without thinking about stance.

This board is for kids who are brand new to snowboarding or still working on linking their first turns — roughly toddler through early elementary school age depending on the size. The 3BT and SideKick combo makes edge catches genuinely uncommon, which keeps frustration low and progression moving. Once your child is confidently linking turns on blue groomers and starting to poke around the park — and has physically outgrown the 120cm — the Bataleon Stuntwood is the natural next step. It's built on the same Low Camber 3BT and SideKick platform, so it'll feel familiar, but it comes in bigger sizes for older kids and teens and bumps the flex to 3/10, which holds up better at speed and gives more pop for tricks. The Minishred is not the right call for an older beginner or a kid who already has a few seasons in — the very soft 1/10 flex and small sizes will feel unstable once they're carrying any real speed.
