The Atomic Four JR is a junior ski helmet built around an in-mold shell — polycarbonate outer fused directly to the EPS foam liner, which keeps weight down without sacrificing impact absorption. Atomic's Holo Core construction extends the crumple zone through the foam for better energy management on impact. No MIPS or AMID here — this is the entry-level Four model for kids, certified to CE EN 1077:2007 Class B and ASTM F2040. The Aircon venting system moves air through the shell and pulls heat away from the head on warmer days. Fit is dialed in at the back with a manually adjusted height-tunable dial, and the liner is fully removable and washable — useful when your kid's been wearing it every weekend for a month straight. The liner also pulls out if they want to wear a beanie underneath, and there's a removable goggle clip at the back to keep things tidy.
This is a resort helmet for young skiers who want low-profile style without the bulk of a freeride lid. If your kid is a committed freerider spending time in the backcountry or dropping serious cliff bands, step up to a helmet with rotational impact protection (AMID or MIPS). For everyday resort skiing — groomers, terrain parks, progression through intermediate terrain — the Four JR covers the bases at a price that makes sense.
