Jones exists because Jeremy Jones couldn't find the boards he wanted for the terrain he was riding. After two decades of big-mountain first descents and eleven Snowboarder Magazine Big Mountain Rider of the Year awards, he started his own company in 2009 out of Truckee, California. That backcountry-first DNA shows up in everything they make -- directional shapes, meaningful taper, boards that actually float and track in real snow, not just on groomers.
We carry Jones because they fill a gap on our wall. A lot of snowboard brands optimize for the resort. Jones optimizes for what happens when you leave the resort -- or when the storm dumps and the whole mountain becomes backcountry. Their splitboard lineup is arguably the best in the industry, and their solid boards bring that same directional, surf-influenced feel to everyday riding. If a customer walks in and says they want to start exploring sidecountry or backcountry, Jones is the first brand we reach for.
The sustainability angle is real, not marketing fluff. Their factory runs on 100% solar power -- that single switch cut production electricity CO2 by 89%. Every board uses recycled ABS sidewalls and bio-based resin. They were the first snowboard brand to earn Fair Trade certification. And their Re-Up recycling program takes dead boards from any brand and reclaims up to 95% of materials by weight. For riders who care about where their gear comes from, Jones makes that decision easy.

FAQ
About Jones
Is PTO an authorized Jones Snowboards dealer?
Yes. PTO Ski & Snowboard is an authorized Jones dealer in Beaverton, OR. Every board we sell is sourced directly from Jones and carries the full manufacturer warranty. We don't carry gray-market or closeout inventory from unauthorized channels.
What size Jones snowboard should I get?
Jones boards tend to run directional with meaningful taper, so sizing depends on the model. Their surf-inspired shapes like the Mind Expander and Hovercraft are volume-shifted -- you'll typically ride them 3-6 cm shorter than a traditional board. Directional boards like the Flagship and Frontier follow more standard sizing by weight. Check the specific model's size chart or call us at 971-263-2916 for a recommendation based on your weight, boot size, and riding style.
Are Jones snowboards good for beginners?
Some models work for progressing intermediates, but Jones isn't really a beginner brand. The Frontier has the friendliest flex in the lineup and is a solid choice for a confident intermediate moving into all-mountain riding. The Flagship and Storm Wolf are stiffer and more directional -- they reward experienced riders and punish sloppy technique. If you're just learning, we'd point you toward something softer and more forgiving first.
What Jones splitboard should I start with for backcountry?
The Solution is the default recommendation for most backcountry riders -- it's Jones' most versatile split and handles everything from mellow touring to steep descents. If you want something more powder-specific, the Storm Chaser Split is worth considering. All Jones splits feature their Bolt-less Bridge system and 3D base contour. We can help you build a complete touring setup with skins, bindings, and safety gear.
Are Jones snowboards really sustainable?
More than most. Jones boards are built in a 100% solar-powered factory, use recycled ABS sidewalls and bio-based epoxy resin, and carry Fair Trade certification -- an industry first. Their Re-Up program recycles old snowboards from any brand, reclaiming up to 95% of materials by weight. These aren't just marketing claims; the solar switch alone cut their production electricity CO2 by 89%.
How does Jones compare to Burton or CAPiTA for all-mountain riding?
Jones boards have a stronger directional and freeride bias than most Burton or CAPiTA all-mountain options. The Mountain Twin is their most freestyle-friendly board, but it still rides more directionally than a Burton Custom or CAPiTA D.O.A. If you spend most of your time in the park or riding switch, Burton or CAPiTA may suit you better. If you prioritize float, directional stability, and off-piste performance, Jones is the stronger pick. Come in and we can narrow it down based on where you actually ride.
