Description
The Tecnica Mach1 HV 130 is a high-volume alpine ski boot for strong all-mountain skiers whose feet are too wide for a 100 mm shell. It pairs a 103 mm last with a 130 flex, with Tecnica’s size run covering Mondopoint 25.5 through 32.5.
Tecnica describes this boot as grounded in the fundamentals of classic ski boot design, and the parts list reads that way. A PU lower shell with a softer Quick Instep zone over the top of the foot, a PU cuff tied to the shell by the T-Drive spine connection, four micro-adjustable aluminum buckles with Lift Lock, and a 45 mm elastic Power Lock strap. Base forward lean is 12.0° with a 3.8° ramp angle, and a two-layer spoiler adds 2.0° or 3.5° of lean when a skier wants more.
The fit is meant to be finished in a shop, not pulled off the wall. Shell and liner both use Tecnica’s C.A.S. (Custom Adaptive Shape), shaped for a high-volume foot and built to be customized. The liner, an Ecodesign High Performance Full C.A.S., heat-molds along with its floating tongue, and the shell takes punching and grinding where a foot still needs room. Tecnica does not say the shell itself heat-molds. Quick Instep makes the boot easier to open; it adds no width.
The sole is GripWalk, listed as ISO 23223. GripWalk’s own guidance: once a boot runs GripWalk soles, a GripWalk-compatible binding is compulsory, and those bindings carry the GripWalk logo beside the AFD. Have a certified technician check the binding on your skis and set it to the boot. Neither a walk mode nor tech inserts appear on Tecnica’s spec list.
Skip it if your foot fits a 100 mm shell, because the Mach1 MV 130 is Tecnica’s 130 for that foot. Skip it too if your foot is narrow, or if you are not yet driving a stiff boot: the Mach1 HV 120 shares this 103 mm last but flexes at 120. We shell-fit every pair, then heat-mold liners and punch shells where a foot needs it, before the boots leave the shop.

Very StiffLast Width
103mm— Wide (102mm+)
Tecnica's Mach1 HV 130 is the wide boot in the Mach1 130 group, and for 26/27 Tecnica describes no redesign for it. Tecnica calls the Mach1 MV 130 all-new this season, with a Co-Injected Grilamid and carbon cuff and 13.3° of forward lean. The HV 130 is listed with a PU cuff and a 12.0° base lean, under the same style number as last season, in a new orange and black colorway. The MV 130 has the newer construction, but fit decides first: the right Mach1 is the one whose shell your foot fits.
The Mach1 HV 130 earns its place with volume. The 103 mm last and the C.A.S.-shaped high-volume shell suit a wide forefoot or a tall instep that does not fit a 100 mm shell, while T-Drive, the lever connection along the spine between cuff and lower shell, is Tecnica's answer for a smooth, consistent flex. One bootfitting shop's notes on this boot describe a liner denser than most high-volume boots and a firm heel hold, with length that opens up after molding, so most skiers stay in their measured size.
That volume comes with a 130 flex, and the flex asks a lot. It wants a skier who drives the cuff on groomers and firm, mixed resort snow; the extra room changes the fit, not the stiffness. A wide-footed skier who is not yet driving a 130 is closer to the Mach1 HV 120, the same 103 mm last at a 120 flex, which Tecnica aims at advanced to expert skiers. Extra forward lean comes from the spoiler: the full spoiler adds 3.5° and the partial one 2.0°, and Tecnica lists no lean adjuster beyond it.
The Mach1 HV 130 comes on GripWalk soles, listed as ISO 23223, and the binding has to match. GripWalk's own guidance is that these soles need a GripWalk-compatible binding, marked with the GripWalk logo beside the anti-friction device, so bring the skis and let a certified technician confirm the pair and set the release. Tecnica lists no walk mode and no tech inserts; a skier who needs a hybrid boot built for walking should look at the Tecnica Cochise. On weight, Tecnica's catalog puts the HV 130 at 2070 g and the MV 130 at 1905 g in the same column, without saying the size or whether that is one boot or two. Read it as the HV being the heavier boot, nothing finer.
Strengths
- +103 mm last brings a 130 flex to a wide forefoot
- +C.A.S.-shaped shell is built to be punched and ground to fit
- +Heat-moldable liner and floating tongue form to the foot
- +Two-layer spoiler adds 2.0° or 3.5° to the base lean
- +Lift Lock buckles stand open for easier entry and exit
Best For
Strong all-mountain skiers with a genuinely wide forefoot or high instep who need a 130 flex, cannot get comfortable in a 100 mm shell, ski bindings that are GripWalk-compatible (or are buying them with the boots), and expect a fitting session to mold the liner and punch the shell.
Limitations
- −PU cuff; the 26/27 MV 130 moved to Grilamid/carbon
- −Tecnica catalog lists 2070 g, against 1905 g for the MV 130
- −GripWalk sole needs a GripWalk-compatible binding
- −Tecnica lists no walk mode and no tech inserts
- −A 103 mm last runs loose on a medium or narrow foot
Not For
Medium feet that fit a 100 mm shell: the Mach1 MV 130 is Tecnica's 130 for that foot, and Tecnica calls it all-new for 26/27. Narrow, low-volume feet, which belong in the 98 mm Mach1 LV 130. Skiers who do not yet drive a stiff cuff, who are closer to the Mach1 HV 120 on the same 103 mm last. Skiers whose bindings are not GripWalk-compatible. And anyone who needs a walk mode, tech inserts or a lean adjuster beyond the spoiler, since Tecnica lists none of those for this boot.
Common Questions
- Tecnica Mach1 HV 130 vs MV 130: what is the difference?
- The Tecnica Mach1 HV 130 has a 103 mm last for wide feet; the MV 130 has a 100 mm last for medium feet. For 26/27 Tecnica calls the MV 130 all-new, giving it a Grilamid and carbon Co-Injected cuff, 13.3° of lean and a 1905 g catalog weight. The HV 130 lists a PU cuff, 12.0° of lean and a 2070 g catalog weight.
- What size Tecnica Mach1 HV 130 should I get?
- Tecnica makes the Mach1 HV 130 in half sizes from Mondopoint 25.5 through 32.5. One bootfitting shop reports the length feels precise out of the box and opens up after the liner is molded, so most skiers do not size up. We measure length and width and check the shell fit before you buy.
- Is the Tecnica Mach1 HV 130 good for intermediate skiers?
- Tecnica builds the Mach1 HV 130 for strong skiers and describes it as a boot for high level, all-mountain chargers. That flex needs a skier who pressures the cuff, and the wider 103 mm last does not make it softer. A wide-footed skier still moving up should look at the Mach1 HV 120, the same last at a 120 flex, which Tecnica builds for advanced to expert skiers with high-volume feet.
- What bindings work with the Tecnica Mach1 HV 130?
- The Tecnica Mach1 HV 130 has GripWalk soles, listed as ISO 23223. GripWalk states that a GripWalk sole needs a GripWalk-compatible binding, which carries the GripWalk logo next to the anti-friction device. Bring your skis to a certified technician, who confirms the binding matches the boot and sets the release before you ski it.
- Can the Tecnica Mach1 HV 130 be heat molded?
- The Tecnica Mach1 HV 130 has a heat-moldable liner (Full C.A.S.) with a floating tongue that forms to the shin. Tecnica does not say the PU shell heat-molds; its shell is designed instead to be punched and ground where a foot needs more room. A bootfitter does both steps at the fitting.
