Rossignol Super BlackOps 98
By PTO Team, Based on official specs and professional review consensus · Spec analysis + professional review consensus on this ski ·
The take
“Vintage 7SK spirit meets modern construction. The limited-edition BlackOps that actually backs it up.”
The Super BlackOps 98 is Rossignol's love letter to their freestyle heritage, wrapped in a limited-edition package with genuine substance underneath. This is not just a graphics exercise. It's a poplar core with Titanal Beam, full sidewall construction, twin rocker, and a 98mm waist that can go anywhere on the mountain.
The Titanal Beam is the structural upgrade that separates this from the standard BlackOps line. That metal insert underfoot adds edge grip, rebound, and stability that the paulownia-core BlackOps models lack. You can actually push this ski at speed and it holds together. The twin rocker profile keeps it playful -- it drifts, pops, and releases with attitude -- but the titanal gives it a foundation of composure that the lighter models don't have.
The 19m turn radius at 182 is moderate-to-long, which suits the freestyle-freeride personality. It doesn't force you into short turns; instead, it lets you choose your line and flow through terrain at your own pace. The progressive sidecut supports both carved and skidded turns.
At 98mm underfoot, it's wide enough for soft snow days without being a powder specialist. On groomers, it carves with more authority than you'd expect from a freestyle-oriented ski. The full sidewall construction gives real edge hold.
This is the ski for the advanced-to-expert skier who doesn't fit neatly into a category. Not pure park, not pure freeride, not pure carving. Just a really capable ski with personality.

Look Pivot 15 GWAggressive all-mountain freestyleThe turntable heel handles the forces from landing switch and hitting features. Industry standard for freestyle-freeride skiing.
Look SPX 13 GWAll-mountainLighter than the Pivot, still excellent release. Good for skiers who prioritize all-mountain over park.
