Stöckli's Montero AW is the women's build of the Montero all-mountain line: an 80 mm Swiss sandwich ski whose defining choice is comfort. The SF Softflex layup uses thinner individual layers, some in lighter materials, so the ski bends with less input from the skier; softer flex zones at shovel and tail and forward-set contact points do the rest of the work of starting and finishing turns. Stöckli carries the AW into 26/27 unchanged, so the 2024 and 2025 independent tests below describe exactly this ski.

On groomed snow the Montero AW tests the way a Swiss carver should. The 2025 test on the 150 scored edge grip, stability and quickness 10 out of 10 and noted the ski likes to be high up on edge; a 2024-season tester called it a Cadillac — trust the ski and it will hold the carve. The 2024 testers found it precise, smooth and velvety, and composed in moguls: a damp, quiet ride rather than an energetic one.

The limits of the Montero AW are just as measurable. Flotation was the weakest score in the 2025 test — 2 out of 10 — and versatility sat mid-pack at 5 out of 10: whatever the all-mountain label says, this ski lives on piste and only visits everything else. On weight, the honest version is a tension: Stöckli's prose calls the design lightweight, but the brand publishes no weight for any Montero, and the 2025 tester called it quite heavy for its size — treat 'lightweight' as a marketing word until a number exists. Stöckli also publishes no metal layup for the AW; one independent review claimed full-length Titanal, which conflicts with the official tech block, so PTO does not repeat it. And high-speed manners look length-dependent: one 2024 tester found the 158 unnerving at very high speed and blamed the short length, while the 2025 tester scored stability on the even-shorter 150 at 10 out of 10.

Within Stöckli's line the choice is clean. Deep snow belongs to the women's Nela 93 (93 mm, Powder Rocker, freeride core), with the Nela 86 as the middle ground if the AW reads too piste-bound. Strong skiers chasing outright short-turn precision can step to the unisex Montero AS (76 mm), which skips the comfort-oriented Softflex build; the unisex Montero AX carries the same 80 mm waist in longer lengths.

The Montero AW comes in 150, 158 and 166 cm, all on the same sidecut, with the radius growing with length; the tester notes above argue for the 166 if you ski fast. PTO sells it at an SRP of $1,549 flat or $1,819 as a system adding Salomon Strive 11D purple demo and its plate. Flat or system, a technician mounts and adjusts the binding to your boot before the ski leaves the shop.
