SoftLast Width
104mm— Wide (102mm+)
The Rossignol Track 70 W is a comfort-first boot for beginner and lower-intermediate women, built around a wide 104mm last that Rossignol rates HV+ (high volume). Everything about it is aimed at ease rather than performance: a soft flex 70, a lightweight polyolefin shell, a Polar Fleece liner for warmth, and a bi-injected soft-plastic instep that makes the boot genuinely easier to get in and out of. At an official 1.60 kg per boot (size 24.5) it is light for the money, and at $349.95 it is the wider, lighter, cheaper end of its flex class.
Read the fit honestly: 104mm HV+ is a wide, high-volume shape for wide feet, high insteps and fuller ankles, with a heel pocket to hold you in. It is the wrong boot for a narrow foot — a roomy shell won’t hold a slim heel, and you’ll move around inside it. Flex 70 is Rossignol’s soft end and not comparable to another brand’s 70; a heavier or more aggressive skier will blow through it and should look up the line to the Alltrack 80 or 90 W. The Hike Mode lever frees the cuff so you can walk to the lift more comfortably — it is walking convenience, not a touring boot. Rossignol does not publish a walk-mode range of motion for this model, and the sole ships as a standard alpine sole (GripWalk is an optional separate purchase), so binding compatibility should always be confirmed and release-tested by a certified technician before you ski.
Strengths
- +Wide 104mm HV+ last with a warm Polar Fleece liner — roomy and warm for wide, cold feet
- +Soft, forgiving flex 70 plus bi-injected easy-entry instep — approachable for beginners
- +Light for the price at an official 1.60 kg per boot, with a dedicated women’s tulip cuff
Best For
Beginner to lower-intermediate women with wide, high-volume feet who want a warm, light, easy-on comfort boot for groomers — and an easy budget.
Limitations
- −Wide HV+ shape is wrong for narrow feet — a slim heel will not be held
- −Soft flex 70 runs out of support for heavier or aggressive skiers (look at Alltrack 80/90 W)
- −Hike Mode is walking convenience, not touring — alpine sole, no tech fittings, walk range unpublished
Not For
Narrow or low-volume feet (this is a wide HV+ last), heavier or aggressive skiers who need more support than flex 70 gives, and anyone buying it as a touring boot — the Hike Mode walks, it does not tour.
Common Questions
- Does the Track 70 W come with GripWalk soles?
- No. It ships with standard alpine soles. Rossignol lists it as “GripWalk compatible (sold separately)” — the GripWalk sole blocks are an optional separate purchase, not what’s on the boot out of the box. Because the sole type changes which bindings it works with, always have a certified technician confirm compatibility and run a release test before skiing.
- Can I use the Track 70 W for touring or hiking uphill?
- It is not a touring boot. The Hike Mode lever frees the cuff so walking — to the lift, around the lodge, across a parking lot — is easier, but the boot has a fixed alpine sole with no tech (pin) fittings, and Rossignol does not publish a walk-mode range of motion for this model. Buy it for resort skiing with a bit of walkability, not for climbing.
- I have narrow feet — will the Track 70 W fit?
- Probably not well. At 104mm and rated HV+ (high volume), this is a wide, roomy last built for wide feet, high insteps and fuller ankles. A narrow foot tends to swim in a shell this generous, with heel lift and a loss of control. A wide last cannot be tightened down to fit a slim foot — a narrower boot is the better answer. Fit is always down to trying it on and a shell check in person, not the number.
- How is the Track 70 W different from the Alltrack 70 W?
- Same flex (70), same Hike Mode, same 4 aluminum buckles and 40mm strap, but they aim at different skiers. The Alltrack 70 W runs a narrower 102mm last, is a little heavier, publishes an official walk-mode range of motion (the Track does not), and Rossignol positions it to “ski the whole mountain.” The Track 70 W is wider (104mm HV+), lighter, warmer (Polar Fleece vs Thinsulate), $30 cheaper, and comfort-first. Want a touch more all-mountain intent and a snugger fit — Alltrack. Want wider, warmer, lighter and cheaper — Track.
Compare — Wide (102mm+)
