The Rome Slapstick is Rome's youth all-mountain true twin — a soft, forgiving snowboard for a kid who has outgrown their first deck and is learning the whole hill. Waists are youth-narrow, 225.1 mm at the 132 up to 242.0 mm at the 147, matched to a smaller boot, and the shape is symmetric end to end, so it turns and rides switch the same either way.
The forgiveness is built in. The profile is Contact Rocker: rocker in the nose and tail with a flat section underfoot. The rockered tips ride up out of the snow, so a light rider is far less likely to catch an edge, while the flat middle keeps a little pop and hold. Twin Diamond 3D bevels the tips to smooth turn initiation, and Bamboo HotRods — bamboo rods milled into the core, not carbon — add spring for ollies and side hits without stiffening the ride. The Impact Base is extruded: tough, easy to repair, and fine even when a wax gets skipped, trading outright speed for durability.

The Slapstick is the board you hand a kid who is past their first season and ready for the whole mountain, and Rome is honest that it is a stage, not a forever board. The real question a parent asks is rarely how fast it goes - it is whether the board will hold a learning rider back or scare them, and this one is tuned to do neither. What it will do, by design, is get outgrown.
Take the flex first. Rome marks it a 4 out of 10, which is genuinely soft, and soft is what lets a light rider bend and steer a board instead of being bullied by it. The Contact Rocker profile lifts both tips clear of the snow while keeping a flat, stable patch between the bindings - the raised ends are what make an edge so hard to catch, and the flat middle is what keeps it from feeling like a wet noodle. - How long will my kid be able to ride it?
