The OGASAKA TC-JS is a junior technical-competition ski, 64 mm at the waist, drawn for short turns on hard snow, in four lengths from 135 to 150 cm. It is not a shrunken TC-S. No on-snow test of it has been published in any language, so what follows is read off OGASAKA's spec, not a ride.
OGASAKA's own English needs unpacking. Its product page calls this "a model designed for slalom skiing in junior technical competitions," and a parent reads slalom as gate racing. The Japanese behind it is 小回り, short turns, inside 技術選 — the judged format where turn quality is scored rather than timed. OGASAKA prints no FIS or SAJ marking on the TC-JS; it prints one on the TC-JL. An event that demands a marked ski demands a different one.
The layup is plain: an NF wood core wrapped in special F.R.P, sandwich-built in Japan, with no A7178 and no metal of any kind. The aluminum sheet belongs to the TC-JL and the adult TC-S, and the weights follow — 793 g/m here against 848 and 970. One structure mark is printed on this row: F.L.F, Front Lead Function, and no other. Sidecut holds at 114.0-64.0-97.0 mm at every length while the radius climbs from 8.9 m to 11.3 m: length here is a turn-shape decision as much as a size one.
This ski assumes a junior already on edge, skiing parallel, working the shape of the arc with a coach. It is not a first pair. OGASAKA builds the J-1 for that child, at $390 with a binding. Long, GS-shaped turns belong to the TC-JL. At 64 mm, soft snow is out.
PTO sells it complete at $825 with the Tyrolia TX10 GW and RACE PLATE WCR TEAM. Two fit gates before ordering: the boot sole must land inside the binding's 231-332 mm window, and the release value is set by a technician from the child's own measurements, then checked on a test device. The take

Start with what nobody can tell you. No on-snow test of the TC-JS has been published in any language. OGASAKA's juniors are not entered in the demo events that generate Japanese ride impressions, and the deepest single source of those impressions for the 26-27 range — a retailer's staff report covering the adult skis at length — carries no entry for this ski, nor for either of its junior stablemates. Tester count: zero. Ride count: zero. Everything below is read off geometry, construction and OGASAKA's stated design intent, and it is labeled that way because it has to be.
The geometry, at least, is unambiguous. Inside OGASAKA's TC junior line this is the short-turn tool and there is no argument about it: 8.9 m of radius at 135 cm, still only 11.3 m at 150. The TC-J beside it runs 10.4 to 14.3 m, and the TC-JL 17.0 to 17.7 m. Scope that superlative to the TC line, though — OGASAKA's separate JUNIOR INSTRUCTIVE skis are drawn tighter still at their shortest lengths.
The construction is the other clear fact, and it is a subtraction. Where the TC-JL and the TC-S both get an A7178 aluminum sheet in the stack, this ski gets an NF wood core with special F.R.P alone. It shows on the scale: 793 g/m, grams for each meter of one ski, against 848 for the TC-JL and 970 for the TC-S. The skis carrying metal are the heavy ones, and a child has to move whatever is bolted to their feet.
The price is where the honesty has to land. This package is $825. OGASAKA's ladder runs J-1 $390, TC-J $565, TC-JS $825, TC-JL $910, and no published performance evidence exists to justify the steps — only intent does. A child training short turns for a judged competition is on the ski that was built for exactly that. A child still learning is not, and OGASAKA's own learning ski, the J-1, is less than half the money with a binding on it.
Two closing facts. This is a carryover: every published field matches last season, so the "completely redesigned" language in OGASAKA's 26-27 TC notes describes the adult TC-L and TC-S, not this ski. And OGASAKA publishes no height or weight chart for it, which makes length a conversation with the coach rather than a lookup.

Its DIN 3-10 span is an adjustment range, and it is not a promise of release and not a guard against injury: a qualified technician sets the value from the child's boot sole length, weight, height, age and skier type, and checks it on the machine. The child's boot sole has to fall inside 231-332 mm, and the scale bottoms out at 3 — OGASAKA's lighter junior package, the Tyrolia JRS7.5 fitted to the TC-J, reaches lower. - No. OGASAKA's component field for this ski reads NF wood core with special F.R.P, and it reads that way on the catalog spec block, on the official 26-27 spec sheet, and on its product page in both Japanese and English. A7178 goes into the TC-JL and into the adult TC-S. Any description that hands the TC-JS aluminum is describing a different ski.
- Can my child race gates on the TC-JS?
- OGASAKA prints no race marking on this ski. The FIS and SAJ note goes on the TC-JL, and on the TRIUN G.TEAM skis — TRIUN being OGASAKA's alpine race line. The TC line is built for judged technical competition, where the quality of the turn is scored instead of the clock. Where OGASAKA's English says slalom, it is rendering 小回り, the short-turn discipline inside that judged format — it is not a claim of FIS gate racing. If an organizer requires a marked ski, this is not it.
