Description
The Captis Birdie is the women's version of Black Crows' Captis — a 90mm all-terrain ski with freestyle roots and an easy, forgiving personality. A poplar core with fiberglass and ABS sidewalls (no titanal) keeps it light and accessible, and the rocker-camber-rocker profile with a gentle, women's-tuned flex makes it easy to steer and quick to release while still holding an edge for a clean carve. It's precise without being demanding — a ski you can ride all day in mixed conditions.
It suits a beginner-to-intermediate or lighter skier who wants one forgiving ski for groomers and easy off-piste, and who values ease over outright power. At 90mm with no metal it's an all-rounder, not a big-mountain powder ski or a stiff hard-snow carver — if you mostly ski deep snow go wider (the Atris Birdie), and strong, aggressive skiers chasing stability at speed will want something with more backbone.

Black Crows Captis Birdie

The take
“The gateway into Black Crows for women. Playful, forgiving, and easy to love.”
The Captis Birdie is the most accessible women's ski Black Crows makes -- entry point at $649. At 90mm with double rocker and no metal, it is forgiving, easy to pivot, and fun at moderate speeds. Freestyle heritage shows in the ski's willingness to be playful without demanding perfect technique.
On groomers the 18m radius and double rocker make turn initiation effortless. The ski pivots quickly -- comfortable in bumps and trees. Edge hold is adequate for groomed snow, not great on hardpack. Medium camber underfoot provides enough stability for confident carving without being demanding.
The Captis Birdie is the ski you sell when a woman wants Black Crows but her level or budget does not justify the Camox Birdie. Also the right pick for the intermediate who wants something fun that will not punish developing technique. In 5-6 inches of fresh snow, the 90mm with tip/tail rocker floats fine.
The ceiling is moderate. When she outgrows it, the Camox Birdie or Serpo are the natural upgrade.

These are DIN 4-11 bindings — a range that covers most intermediate-to-advanced skiers on a ski like this. Your own release setting is a technician's calculation from weight, height, age, boot sole length and skier type; body weight alone does not decide it. If yours lands above 11, you need a binding with a higher range.
