The take

The quiver killer — carving score of 4.75/5, Death Grip sidecut locks in on hardpack like nothing else in its class.

The Mercury celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026, and it's earned its reputation as CAPiTA's one-board quiver. The directional twin shape with 12.5mm setback and Resort V2 camber profile sits between the freestyle-leaning D.O.A. and dedicated freeride boards — it carves like a race board but can still hit park features.

The Death Grip sidecut is the standout feature — a multi-radius design that provides locked-in edge hold on hardpack and ice. Combined with the Hover Core (Paulownia + Poplar) and 4x 25mm CarbonFlax amplifiers, the board delivers explosive pop with dampening that absorbs chatter at speed. The CarbonFlax blend — natural flax fiber woven with carbon — adds stability without the harshness of pure carbon.

The Hyperdrive ADV XT sintered base is premium — fast, durable, and noticeably quicker than the D.O.A.'s Quantum Drive. On groomers, the Mercury trenches deep carves with confidence. In moderate powder, the directional setback and Flat Kick nose provide decent float.

Scored 87.3/100 in Board of the World testing, ranked 8th/38 all-mountain and 9th/36 park. That versatility spread tells you everything — it's competitive in both.
