The take

The women's ski that actually prioritizes fun over everything else. New for 25/26.

The Sato Birdie is new for 25/26 and brings the same joy-focused philosophy as the men's Sato to women's-specific lengths. At 90mm underfoot (slightly wider than the men's 88mm), it has a touch more versatility and float in variable conditions while maintaining the approachable, playful character.

Progressive front rocker and early rise tail make this ski easy to pivot and maneuver, while medium camber underfoot provides enough edge engagement for confident groomer carving. The flex is tolerant and progressive -- it does not punish technique errors.

At 90mm with no metal, the Sato Birdie is not trying to be a high-performance machine. It is trying to make every run enjoyable. Three length options (155-167cm) cover most women's sizes.

New model with limited review data, but the men's Sato has received positive early feedback. Position it as the entry into Black Crows for women who want character without the Captis Birdie's freestyle heritage or the Octo Birdie's pure carving focus.

Bindings we'd pair with it

Mount point: Flat mount. Our pick: Look SPX 11 GW.

  • Look SPX 11 GWPerformance carving

    Full-metal construction in DIN 11.

  • Marker Squire 11 IDAll-around / value

    Versatile, reliable, good price.

  • Tyrolia Attack 11 GWLight setup

These are DIN 4-11 bindings — a range that covers most intermediate-to-advanced skiers on a ski like this. Your own release setting is a technician's calculation from weight, height, age, boot sole length and skier type; body weight alone does not decide it. If yours lands above 11, you need a binding with a higher range.
