Stöckli Montero AS
By PTO Ski Team, Based on manufacturer data, industry ski tests, and customer feedback · Multiple on-snow sessions on this ski · Various test sites
The take
“A knife on firm snow — lightning-quick edge-to-edge with a playful tail that makes short turns feel automatic.”
The Montero AS is Stöckli's all-mountain slalom ski — 76mm underfoot with a short-turn personality that brings slalom energy to everyday skiing. The extended tail rocker gives a playful, non-hooky release that keeps turns smooth and rhythmical, while the full titanal sheet with Flex Torsion Control delivers serious edge grip on firm snow.
On hardpack and groomers, the AS is a standout. Testers describe it as "a knife" on firm snow — precise, lively, and quick edge-to-edge with excellent rebound. The Stöckli damping tames chatter in mixed conditions, and it handles bumps well for a 76mm ski. The playful tail makes turn release easy and forgiving, which is unusual for a ski with this much edge grip.
The 2026/2027 model adds Turtleshell Tech, a rubber laminate underfoot, and a forward-shifted mounting point. These updates improve snow contact and forebody connectivity without changing the fundamental character.
Compared to the Montero AX (80mm), the AS is narrower, quicker edge-to-edge, and has a livelier tail. The AX is more neutral and versatile. Compared to the Laser SL (66mm), the AS is wider and more forgiving — it's the choice for skiers who want slalom-style turns with all-mountain forgiveness.
