This brand publishes no flex rating for this binding. The number above is its own separate figure, and it does not compare across brands.

At $359.95 the Drone sits between the Specter and the Circuit, and that comparison is the clearest guide to what you are buying. Ride's catalog Feel field rates the Drone 6. The Specter below it reads 4 at $279.95; the Circuit above it reads 8 at $399.95. Ride does not publish what the Feel scale measures, so read the 6 as a position within Ride's own row and nothing more. It does not translate onto another brand's flex number.

What separates the Drone from its siblings is small and specific. Six of the eight construction items Ride lists for it are shared verbatim with the Specter; the real separators are the base pad and the toe strap. The Drone carries the Minimalist Core Toe Strap, which Ride says fits all desired boot positions without adding any weight, and it ships on a plastic disc that Ride itself positions away from charging hard. The Linkage Ratchets target ladder wear and ratchet slop, and the wording there is worth reading closely: Ride promises the same hold you expect, not better hold. That is a durability story told honestly rather than a performance upgrade dressed up as one.

Where it loses is easy to name. If you ride fast and want the platform to stay put underneath you, the Circuit at $399.95 is Ride's own answer, and Ride's disc copy effectively concedes the point. If you spend your day in the park and want forgiveness, Ride ranks the Specter below the Drone in that same field, at $279.95. And against any brand that publishes a weight, the Drone loses on information alone: Ride prints no figure in any unit, only the adjectives ultra lightweight and without adding any weight. Neither you nor we can check those.

Settle sizing and mounting before you order. Ride's chart runs M up to US men's 10 and starts L at 10.5, so that column splits cleanly. The EU, CM and UK columns beside it do not: each one prints its boundary size against both M and L, so a boot sitting on that seam should be fitted rather than assigned. Mounting: Ride publishes no hole-pattern specification for the Drone, but it sells a plastic disk it lists as fitting all its bindings, and reading that disk we put it on standard 2x4 and 4x4 boards and on the Channel. That is our call, not Ride's. What stays genuinely open is the hardware — the bolts a Channel board wants are not the ones an insert-pattern board takes — so tell us the board and we settle that with you first. All performance descriptions here are attributed to Ride's published material, and we call out where Ride is silent.

Will it fit your board?

Ride publishes no insert pattern for this binding. Reading the disk it ships with, we put it on 2x4, 4x4, EST/Channel — that is PTO’s call, not Ride’s. Whether a binding mounts is a fit question, not a copy question: if you are not sure what your board is drilled for, bring it in and we will hold the disk against it.

Technology

A-Series Chassis

Ride's aluminum chassis, which it says provides the reactive flex and power transfer of aluminum underfoot. It is the dividing line between Ride's aluminum A-Series bindings and its composite C-Series.

A-Series TPU

Ride describes this as a urethane base pad that sits under the binding and wraps up the side, and says the urethane provides damping underfoot and support as it wraps up the side, increasing response as the rider drives weight into turns. Ride publishes no damping figure in any unit, so treat the effect as described rather than measured.

Nylon Highback

Ride calls nylon a traditional highback material offering a predictable mix of response and comfort, and describes this one as 3D shaped, asymmetrical and medium flexing. Ride says the asymmetry allows for maximum medial flex and lateral control — softer toward the inside of the leg, more supportive toward the outside.

Two-Piece Ankle Strap

Two different plastics in one strap: per Ride, a more rigid section providing the necessary response and a softer section that keeps the strap comfortable and holds it in place over the boot, with no extra padding to bunch up. On the Drone specifically Ride says the frame is urethane for structure, cushioned with a softer material it does not name. Ride describes the strap as asymmetrical, giving more flex to the medial side for mobility and board feel.

Canted Footbed

Ride describes an ultra-light footbed using subtle angles to align the ankles and knees into a more natural and comfortable position. Ride prints no cant angle in degrees for the Drone, so the amount of cant on this binding is unknown.

Linkage Ratchet

Ride says it is designed to improve ladder durability and eliminate ratchet wag for a smoother user experience, with the same hold you expect. Note the wording: Ride claims equal hold, not more hold. This is a durability and feel item.

Plastic Disc

Ride states plainly that the plastic disc offers more lateral flex than aluminum, for the rider focused on comfort and flex over hard-charging performance. That sentence is about flex character. Ride publishes no hole-pattern information anywhere in it.

Not For

Hard-charging riders who want a stiff, high-response binding — within Ride's own line the Circuit sits above the Drone on the Feel scale and is explicitly the hard-charging model, and Ride's own disc copy rates the plastic disc for comfort ahead of charging hard. Park riders wanting a soft, forgiving flex — the Specter sits below the Drone on Ride's own rating at $279.95. Anyone after a rear-entry or step-in system: the Drone straps in the traditional way, one band at the ankle and one across the toes. Riders whose boots fall outside M or L: the men's Drone is not offered in Small, so smaller-footed riders are not served by this product at all. And anyone who needs a written mounting answer from Ride before paying — Ride publishes no hole-pattern specification for the Drone, and Channel boards take different bolts from insert-pattern boards, so confirm hardware with us before you order.

Common Questions

What size Ride Drone should I order?
Size follows your boot, never your weight or height. On Ride's chart, M covers US men's 6 through 10, and L begins at 10.5, which is a clean split in that one column. The other three do not split cleanly: the EU column prints 43.5 against both sizes, the CM column prints 28, and the UK column prints 9. If your boot lands anywhere near there, tell us the exact boot you ride and we will fit it rather than read it off the chart. The men's Drone is sold in M and L only — there is no Small in this product.
Will the Ride Drone mount on my board?
Ride publishes no hole-pattern specification for the Drone — not on the product page and not in its catalogs. Ride does sell a plastic disk its own SKU lists as fitting all its bindings, and its own photo of that disk shows two hole arrays at different pitches, so we put it on standard 2x4 and 4x4 patterns and on Burton's Channel. Read that as our answer, not Ride's. One thing is certain either way: Channel boards take different bolts from insert-pattern boards, and what is in the box is not something Ride states. Tell us which board you are mounting to and we will confirm the hardware before you order.
How does the Ride Drone compare with the Specter and the Circuit?
Ride's own catalog Feel field reads 6 for the Drone, 4 for the Specter and 8 for the Circuit, and the product page states a Medium response level. Ride does not publish what that Feel scale measures, so it is useful for ranking the three Ride models against each other and for nothing else. Do not compare it to another brand's flex number.
Does a snowboard binding have a release setting?
No. A snowboard binding holds your boot to the board and is not designed to let go. Its specifications describe flex, response and fit — nothing in them is a protective feature, and none of the numbers on this page relate to safety.
