Ride does not agree with itself about what the CL-4 is for. The spec facet on its own product page reads Specialty: Park. The tagline on that same product calls it "An all-mountain binding," and the description says it was built for riders seeking a smooth all-mountain binding. Both are Ride's words, published at the same time about the same style number, and we are not going to pick one on your behalf. What is not ambiguous is the feel: Ride's own Feel 4/10, a Response labelled Mellow, and a mounting disc the brand itself describes as trading hard-charging performance for lateral give. Ride never says what Feel measures, so that number ranks this binding inside Ride's own line and travels no further than that.
The CL-6 shares the chassis series and the same two-size run, but Ride rates it Feel 6 with a Medium response and lists its specialty as All Mountain, at $329.95 against this one's $249.95. On paper, what changes is the Feel number, the response tier and the stated specialty — that is the whole of what we compared. If you already know you want more binding under your foot, buy that one instead — Ride ranks the CL-6 above this one on both the Feel number and the response tier.
Then there are the silences, and there are several. Ride places the CL-4 in its women's line and offers it in two sizes, and that is the whole of what the brand publishes about the model being women's-specific. No reduced-volume heel cup, no separate flex spec, no shortened highback claim. We are not going to invent one to fill the space. Ride also publishes no ability level for this binding — neither the Feel number nor the Response tier says who is permitted to ride it, and we do not read an ability gate into either. Ride publishes no insert pattern for this binding. Reading the disk it ships with, we put it on 2x4, 4x4, EST/Channel — that is PTO’s call, not Ride’s. Whether a binding mounts is a fit question, not a copy question: if you are not sure what your board is drilled for, bring it in and we will hold the disk against it.
Technology
C-Series Composite Chassis
Two materials in one chassis: the base tray is polycarbonate, the heel cup is aluminum and extruded. Ride credits the heel cup with "ultimate toe heel response" and says the tray "offers a comfortable and smooth ride". The series name describes the tray only — Ride lists the recyclable aluminum heel cup as a separate feature entry of its own.
Slimeback Highback
A urethane highback using material related to Ride's Slimewalls. Ride: it "absorbs shock and damps vibrations to help smooth the ride while providing fluid support."
Plastic Disc
A plastic mounting disc rather than an aluminum one. Ride states it "offers more lateral flex than aluminum for the rider that is focused on comfort and flex over hard charging performance" — the brand's own framing of the trade, not our inference.
Canted Footbed
A footbed set at a 2.5 degree angle. Ride says the angle aligns the ankles and knees "to a more natural and comfortable position" and gives leverage to press the board, without changing your stance width.
C-Series Die Cut basepad
A minimalist die-cut EVA pad sitting under the binding to damp out vibrations. Ride's catalog calls this part "C-Series EVA Basepad" and its feature sheet calls it "C-Series Diecut Basepad" — the official tech page confirms one part, not two.
One-Piece Ankle Strap
A single-material ankle strap. Ride: it "provides response and comfort in a utilitarian package that wastes nothing."
Minimalist Toe Strap 2.0
An updated minimalist toe strap that Ride says keeps the same look and feel with "a closer boot to binding fit to maximize performance and boot hold." Adjusts tool-lessly — no screwdriver needed to change the strap fit.
Linkage Ratchet

- Is the Ride CL-4 an all-plastic binding?
- No. The chassis runs two materials — polycarbonate in the tray under your boot, aluminum in the heel cup — and Ride publishes a fully recyclable aluminum heel cup as a feature in its own right. The series name describes what you stand on, not the whole binding.
- Will the Ride CL-4 fit my board?
