Description

The Smith Liberty Mips is a women’s all-mountain helmet for skiers who want a rugged lid they can fine-tune through the day. Its hybrid shell trades a little weight for a harder-wearing exterior, so it holds up to years of chairlift bars, gear bags, and dropped goggles. The Regulator vent control lets you shed heat on the way up and shut the vents against a cold wind, and the VaporFit dial snugs the helmet to your head rather than leaving you with whatever a fixed lid gives you.

It suits a rider who wants Koroyd energy absorption and Mips rotational-impact protection in a helmet sized Small through Large, which favors small to mid-size heads. If you never open a vent or reach for a dial, a simpler helmet will do the job; the Liberty earns its place for skiers who like to adjust as the day and the weather change.

A helmet does its job only when it sits right, so bring your head to us — we will measure you, tune the VaporFit dial level and snug, and pair the Liberty with your Smith goggle so the vents and lens line up. Technology

Hybrid Shell Construction

A durable exterior is blended with a lightweight in-molded shell, adding toughness where the helmet takes the most contact while keeping the Liberty to 550g in size M.

Koroyd (Zonal)

Welded co-polymer tubes that crumple on impact to absorb energy while staying open for airflow, placed in the Liberty’s key impact zones rather than full coverage.

Mips

A low-friction layer inside the helmet that lets it move a few millimeters on an angled impact, designed to reduce the rotational forces caused by that impact.

AirEvac Ventilation with Regulator Control

Smith’s goggle-integration venting channels warm air out of the goggle interface to cut lens fogging, fed by 20 vents that a single Regulator slider opens and closes one-handed.

Features

  • ·Hybrid shell for durability where you need it, still light at 550g
  • ·Zonal Koroyd plus Mips for impact and rotational management
  • ·VaporFit Snow dial for 270-degree fit adjustment
  • ·Single Regulator slider opens and closes the 20 vents one-handed
  • ·AirEvac goggle integration to cut lens fogging
  • ·Ionic+ antimicrobial lining
  • ·Removable Snapfit SL2 ear pads, audio-chip and Aleck compatible
  • ·Select colorways available without Mips at a lower price

The Smith Liberty Mips is Smith’s women’s all-mountain helmet, built around a hybrid shell — a durable exterior over a lightweight in-molded shell — that keeps weight to 550g in size M while adding toughness where the helmet takes the most contact. Zonal Koroyd sits in the key impact zones to absorb energy and keep airflow moving, and Mips reduces the rotational forces caused by an angled impact. Certification is ASTM F2040 plus CE EN 1077:2007 Class B, the same all-mountain standard Smith’s pricier lids carry.

Where the value Method leaves fit and venting fixed, the Liberty adds adjustment. A VaporFit Snow dial tunes the fit 270 degrees with the turn of a dial, and a single Regulator slider opens and closes the 20 vents one-handed, so you can dump heat on the climb and close things down on a cold chair. AirEvac channels warm air out of the goggle interface to cut lens fogging with a Smith goggle, the Ionic+ lining is antimicrobial, and the Snapfit SL2 ear pads come out and take an audio chip. It stays Aleck compatible.

This is the lid for a skier who wants adjustable fit and venting in a women’s all-mountain helmet and who lands in the S–L range, 51 to 63cm. The Liberty tops out at size L, so a head measuring above 63cm will fit better in a helmet offered in a larger size — Smith’s men’s-fit Level is the Liberty’s counterpart in the line. Select colorways come without Mips at a lower price if you want to trade the rotational-impact layer for some savings.

Safety — read this

No helmet prevents all injury. The Liberty meets ASTM F2040 and EN 1077:2007 Class B; those certifications are separate from Koroyd and Mips, which are impact-management systems, not guarantees. Mips reduces rotational forces caused by angled impacts — it does not eliminate them. Replace any helmet after a significant impact even if it looks undamaged, and set the VaporFit dial snug and level before you ride.

Strengths

  • +Hybrid shell adds toughness, still light at 550g
  • +VaporFit Snow dial gives 270-degree fit adjustment
  • +Regulator slider opens and closes 20 vents one-handed
  • +Zonal Koroyd and Mips manage impact and rotation
  • +AirEvac venting keeps a Smith goggle clear

Best For

Women skiers who want adjustable fit and venting in a light, tough all-mountain Koroyd-and-Mips helmet within the S–L size range.

Limitations

  • Heavier than the in-mold Method at 550g
  • Sizes stop at L; nothing above 63cm
  • More helmet, and cost, than a fixed-vent value lid

Not For

Anyone whose head measures above 63cm — the Liberty stops at size L, so a larger head needs a helmet offered in bigger sizes, such as Smith’s men’s-fit Level. Skiers who never touch a dial or vent, and want to spend less, are better served by Smith’s fixed-vent value lids; select colorways also drop Mips for a lower price.

Common Questions

How much does the Smith Liberty weigh?
About 550g / 19oz in size M. A hybrid shell adds a durable exterior over the in-molded shell, which is why it runs heavier than Smith’s pure in-mold lids.
Does the Smith Liberty have adjustable vents?
Yes. A single Regulator slider opens and closes the 20 vents one-handed, so you can add airflow on the climb and close it down on a cold chair.
Does the Liberty have a dial fit?
Yes. The VaporFit Snow dial gives 270-degree fit adjustment with the turn of a dial. AirEvac venting and removable Snapfit SL2 ear pads round out the fit.
Does the Liberty have Koroyd and Mips?
Yes — zonal Koroyd in the key impact zones plus Mips to reduce rotational forces from angled impacts. Select colorways come without Mips at a lower price.
What sizes does the Smith Liberty come in?
Small (51–55cm), Medium (55–59cm), and Large (59–63cm). There is no XL, so measure just above your ears and size up if you are near the top of a range.
