PTO Verdict
“One sidecut, five lengths — picking a length is picking your turn radius.”
Best for: Expert skiers whose day is short turns on groomed, hard snow. The whole size run turns between 10.5 m and 13.7 m, and the build — full camber, EMC damping, a race base — points one direction: firm snow, high edge angles, all day. Buy it as a dedicated piste tool alongside whatever else is in your quiver, not instead of it.
Not for: Off-piste, all-mountain and soft-snow skiers: 68 mm underfoot, 100% camber with zero rocker, and HEAD's terrain rating parked at the On-Piste end. An owner of a prior generation put it plainly: "not an off piste ski." Beginners and progressing intermediates: HEAD's level scale starts at 8 of 10, and nothing about a full-camber race build softens that. Anyone expecting a binding in the box — it ships plate-only, so a binding and a mount come on top of the sticker. Skiers who want long, GS-style arcs or top-speed stability work: the longest length still turns at 13.7 m, and HEAD builds the e-Speed and e-Race for that. And anyone who needs a length outside 150-170 cm — that is the entire 26/27 run.

Description
The HEAD Worldcup Rebels e-SL is an expert-rated slalom carver, 68 mm at the waist, sold with its Race Plate EVO 14 mounted and no binding in the box.
What it is. HEAD files the e-SL under Race Skis and rates it on its own scales: level 8-10 of 10 (the expert end), terrain 1-3 of 10 (the on-piste end). The profile is Rebel Camber — 100% camber, zero rocker at tip and tail — the sidecut is 122/68/107 mm on every length, and the turn runs from 10.5 m at 150 cm to 13.7 m at 170 cm. EMC damping uses ceramic piezo plates at either end of the ski to turn vibration into electric energy — HEAD's stated mechanism behind its all-day, less-leg-fatigue positioning. The base is HEAD's RD Race Structured UHM C, its race-room base material.
Construction, in HEAD's words. A wood core with "high-quality aluminum alloy," ABS sidewalls, and the Race Plate Evo. HEAD does not name the alloy or say how many metal sheets the layup uses, and the one weight HEAD publishes — 2,210 g per ski, measured at 160 cm without a binding — carries HEAD's own production-deviation note.
Who it's for — and not. Expert skiers who want slalom-radius short turns all day on groomed snow; HEAD's own level scale is the fence here. Skip it for off-piste and soft snow; for long GS-style arcs, HEAD's e-Speed and e-Race siblings carry the same sticker — MSRP $1,225, MAP $1,049; and skip it if you need a length outside the 150-170 cm run. How it compares to the e-SL Pro and the e.SLR is the review's job, below.
What we do. The price buys ski and plate; the binding is a separate purchase. Pick it with us — we mount it and set your release value — and we help you size the length, since length sets the radius. We stock 160, 165 and 170 cm.

The take
“One sidecut, five lengths — picking a length is picking your turn radius.”
The Worldcup Rebels e-SL is a one-discipline ski, and HEAD's own page is unusually clear about the discipline. Its terrain scale sits at 1-3 of 10 toward "On Piste," its level scale at 8-10 of 10 toward "Experts," and the geometry never wavers: 122/68/107 mm on all five lengths, one radius per length — 10.5 m at 150 cm, 11.2 at 155, 12.0 at 160, 12.9 at 165, 13.7 at 170.
The interesting tension in the Worldcup Rebels e-SL is that HEAD rates it "Expert" and calls it easier in the same breath. The official description reads "less demanding and easier to turn than its big brother, the e-SL Pro," and promises "full day performance with less leg fatigue." Both are HEAD's words about the same ski, and they reconcile one way: less demanding than the e-SL Pro is still a demanding ski. A hands-on review of a prior-generation e-SL — different dimensions, so character corroboration only — called it "a bit of a handful if you're not prepared" and "very tricky when taken into bumps."
Underneath, the e-SL is HEAD's race stack. Rebel Camber is 100% camber with zero rocker at either end, which HEAD credits with "powerful acceleration and sharp edge grip." EMC sets ceramic piezo plates in the front and rear of the ski and converts vibration into electric energy — the stated mechanism behind the fatigue claim. The base is the RD Race Structured UHM C, which HEAD describes as its fastest and says is used by Worldcup technicians. What HEAD does not publish: the metal is "high-quality aluminum alloy" with no name and no sheet count, the plate's boot-sole adjustment range is absent, and the one published weight is 2,210 g per ski, without binding, at 160 cm, with HEAD's own production-deviation caveat.
Inside HEAD's line the Worldcup Rebels e-SL has a clear address. Above it, the e-SL Pro ($1,275 MSRP / $1,099 MAP) carries the Worldcup race plate, Phenolic sidewalls and a race tune finish — a different retail product whose reviews do not transfer here. Below it, the e.SLR is HEAD's "race entry" slalom: 66 mm waist, 11.5 m radius, weight-saving LYT build, EMC in the front of the ski only. For long arcs at the same price, the e-Speed and e-Race are the GS-flavored siblings.
The sticker is not the whole cost of the Worldcup Rebels e-SL. $1,225 MSRP / $1,049 MAP buys the ski with the plate already on it — Race Plate EVO 14; the official set page's binding option reads "No Binding," so budget a binding and a shop mount on top. HEAD names no pairing for the plate; we help you choose the binding, and our technician mounts it and sets your release value. HEAD's full run is 150-170 cm in five lengths; PTO ordered the 160, 165 and 170.
Bindings we'd pair with it
Mount point: Race Plate EVO 14, factory-mounted — the binding itself is a separate purchase and a shop mount. Our pick: Yours to choose — HEAD's page names no binding pairing for this plate.
Sold without a binding — HEAD publishes no pairing and no adjustment range for the plate. Choose it with us: our technician mounts it and sets your release value. DIN is an indicator, not a safety guarantee.
Common Questions
- What is the difference between HEAD's Worldcup Rebels e-SL and the e-SL Pro?
- Two different retail products. HEAD's Pro page lists a Worldcup race plate, Phenolic sidewalls and a race tune finish at $1,275 MSRP / $1,099 MAP; the e-SL answers with the Race Plate Evo, ABS sidewalls, and HEAD's own line that it is "less demanding and easier to turn." Reviews of one do not describe the other.
- Does HEAD's Worldcup Rebels e-SL come with a binding?
- No. The official set page offers "No Binding" as its single binding option — "RP EVO 14" in the model name is the factory-mounted race plate, not a boxed binding. You buy the binding separately; our technician mounts it and sets your release value.
- What lengths does HEAD's Worldcup Rebels e-SL come in, and which should I pick?
- HEAD's 26/27 run is 150, 155, 160, 165 and 170 cm, all 122/68/107 mm. Length sets the radius: 10.5 / 11.2 / 12.0 / 12.9 / 13.7 m respectively — longer runs steadier, shorter turns tighter. PTO stocks 160, 165 and 170 cm.
- Is HEAD's Worldcup Rebels e-SL too much ski for an intermediate?
- HEAD's level scale for this ski starts at 8 of 10 and its Skill card reads "Expert." The "less demanding" line in HEAD's copy compares it to the e-SL Pro, not to easier skis. The step-down inside the line is the e.SLR: 66 mm waist, 11.5 m radius, and HEAD calls it a race entry ski.
- How much does HEAD's Worldcup Rebels e-SL weigh?
- HEAD publishes one figure: 2,210 g per single ski, without binding, at 160 cm — with its own note that production-related deviations must be taken into account. No weights for the other lengths are published.
- Can HEAD's Worldcup Rebels e-SL handle off-piste snow?
- It is not built for it. The waist is 68 mm, the profile is 100% camber with zero rocker, and HEAD's own terrain scale sits at 1-3 of 10 toward "On Piste." An owner of a prior generation put it plainly: "not an off piste ski."
