PTO Verdict

“A small rocker twin that forgives first and is meant to be outgrown.”

Best for: A child from about 2 years old, roughly 35 to 60 lb, in their first days of snowboarding: magic carpet, learning area and first green runs. It fits a parent who wants a board that forgives edge mistakes and needs little care, and who accepts the child will size out of it.

Not for: Kids who already link turns and want pop or edge hold; rocker trades response for forgiveness. From about 50 lb their camber step is CAPiTA's 26/27 Youth Brigade Mini or Glow Up Mini (Resort V1 hybrid camber, 110-130 cm); under about 50 lb they stay on the Micro Mini. Kids over about 60 lb or needing more than 100 cm, since the 100 is the longest 26/27 Micro Mini. Teens and adults, since this is a youth board. Anyone expecting sintered-base glide. And powder days: CAPiTA's kids powder board is the Children of the Pow, from 130 cm.

Description

The CAPiTA Micro Mini 26/27 is a first snowboard for children from age two to about 60 lb, built so a small rider's wobbles are less likely to turn into caught edges. It pairs CAPiTA's Park Mini reverse-camber profile with a Twin 3 flex on CAPiTA's own 1-10 scale, in 80, 90 and 100 cm lengths with waists of 17.9 to 19.3 cm.

Park Mini puts rocker in the nose and tail, keeps the board flat between the inserts, and adds beveled edges, all for what CAPiTA calls "catch free riding." With the tips lifted and the edge rolled back, a tipped board is slow to hook, and the flat middle gives both feet a steady base. A poplar Select 2.0 core sits under Micro-Glass and Magic Bean resin, and the Radial sidecut runs 2.9 m on the 80 to 4.2 m on the 100. The XXX[truded] base is extruded because, as CAPiTA puts it, kids are hard on gear and never going to wax: durable and low-maintenance, slower than a waxed sintered base.

It suits a child on the magic carpet and first greens, with a parent who puts forgiveness ahead of performance. Size it by CAPiTA's weight windows, 35-50 lb on the 80 up to 45-60 lb on the 100, then check that the board stands between your child's chin and brow.

Skip it for a kid who already links turns and wants pop. The rocker that forgives also gives back less, and CAPiTA's 26/27 camber step is the Glow Up Mini or Youth Brigade Mini, from 110 cm and 50 lb. Past about 60 lb or 100 cm it is too small, and it is no board for powder, teens or adults.

What changed from 25/26: the build carries over; the 110 cm length is gone. The 2026 Micro Mini ran 80 to 110 cm; for 26/27 CAPiTA stops at 100 cm and starts its new hybrid-camber minis at 110.

It ships as a bare deck, since CAPiTA makes no bindings; we size the board for your child and mount small-kid bindings chosen for their boots.

The take

“A small rocker twin that forgives first and is meant to be outgrown.”

Buy the 26/27 CAPiTA Micro Mini for a stage, not for years of growth. Its rider is a child from about two years old up to about 60 lb, still learning to stand, glide and stop, and its whole job is to let that child skid, side-slip and fall over without the board biting back. Judge it on that job.

On the hill, the Micro Mini asks very little of a small body. A soft, symmetric Twin 3 flex lets a light child twist the board to steer, the centered true twin rides the same in either direction, and the short Radial sidecut matches the slow, small turns of a first season. The sign it has done its job is a child who links turns on purpose and wants more; from then on, the next board serves them better than another season on this one.

Sizing the CAPiTA Micro Mini comes down to overlap. The three weight windows climb 5 lb per length, so a 50 lb child fits the 80, 90 and 100 alike. In that overlap, CAPiTA's chin-to-brow height guide decides, and a child who is still growing is usually better served by the longer of two fits. CAPiTA prints no boot sizes for the 26/27 board, so we check the boot against the board when we fit the bindings.

In CAPiTA's 26/27 youth line, the Micro Mini sits below the new Youth Brigade Mini and Glow Up Mini; every other 26/27 CAPiTA youth board starts at 110 cm or longer. Those two minis share one build and size table, and the step up is the profile: Resort V1 hybrid camber in 110 to 130 cm. Their 110 takes riders of 50-65 lb, so a child of 50-60 lb who links turns can move to camber now, while a turning child under 50 lb stays on the Micro Mini until they grow into that window. The Children of the Pow is CAPiTA's kids powder board, from 130 cm and 70 lb.

What changed from 25/26 is the length run, not the build. The CAPiTA Micro Mini 2026 came in 80, 90, 100 and 110 cm for 35-65 lb; the 26/27 version keeps the Park Mini rocker, Radial sidecut, Twin 3 flex and extruded base but tops out at 100 cm and 60 lb. CAPiTA's age guide now reaches upward of eight on the 100 rather than the 110.

The Micro Mini is sold without bindings, and its reference stance is centered: 34.0 cm on the 80 to 38.0 cm on the 100. We fit small-kid bindings to your child's boots and mount them in the shop.

Bindings we'd pair with it

Mount point: Centered, no setback - reference stance 34.0 cm / 13.4 in on the 80 up to 38.0 cm / 15.0 in on the 100. Our pick: Bindings not included - fitted to your child's boots in the shop.

Sold as a deck only, the Micro Mini does not include bindings. CAPiTA does not publish an insert pattern for it, so we check the inserts and fit small-kid bindings matched to your child's boots, and the technician confirms the setup at fitting.

    Common Questions

CAPiTA Micro Mini vs Youth Brigade Mini: what is the difference?
The CAPiTA Micro Mini uses Park Mini reverse camber in 80-100 cm for about 35-60 lb, while the 26/27 Youth Brigade Mini uses Resort V1 hybrid camber in 110-130 cm for about 50-80 lb. Both boards use a Twin 3 flex, a Radial sidecut, Micro-Glass and an extruded base. The Glow Up Mini has the same build and size table as the Youth Brigade Mini.
What size CAPiTA Micro Mini should I get?
Size the CAPiTA Micro Mini with CAPiTA's weight windows: the 80 covers 35-50 lb, the 90 40-55 lb and the 100 45-60 lb. Where two windows overlap, CAPiTA's rule of thumb puts the board between the rider's chin and brow. We check the length against your child's boots and height in the shop.
Is the CAPiTA Micro Mini good for beginners?
The CAPiTA Micro Mini is built for true beginners: CAPiTA targets children from 2 years old on the 80 and upward of 8 on the 100. Its beveled Park Mini rocker is aimed at catch-free riding and its Twin 3 flex is soft. A child who links turns confidently and weighs about 50 lb can move to the hybrid-camber Youth Brigade Mini or Glow Up Mini.
CAPiTA Micro Mini 2027 vs 2026: what changed?
The CAPiTA Micro Mini 2027 (26/27) keeps the 2026 board's Park Mini profile, Twin 3 flex, Radial sidecut and extruded base. The change is the length run: the 2026 board was made in 80, 90, 100 and 110 cm, while the 26/27 version stops at 100 cm. From 110 cm, CAPiTA's 26/27 line moves to the new hybrid-camber Youth Brigade Mini and Glow Up Mini.
Does the CAPiTA Micro Mini come with bindings?
The CAPiTA Micro Mini ships as a bare deck without bindings, and CAPiTA does not publish its insert pattern. Its centered reference stance is 34.0 cm on the 80, 36.0 cm on the 90 and 38.0 cm on the 100. Bring your child's boots and we fit and mount small-kid bindings, with the technician confirming the setup at fitting.
