Description
The Burton Women's Waverange X (26/27) is a strap-binding snowboard boot with Dual Zone BOA® lacing over a heat-moldable Asym Imprint™ 3 liner. Burton calls the flex a softer mid-flex and labels it Happy Medium, but publishes no flex number or last width, and builds it in Regular and Wide on its women's chart; this page carries Black in Regular US women's 5 to 11 and in Wide sizes US 6 to 9.
Burton describes the Waverange X as a totally new design for 26/27. The defining part is the Dual Zone BOA® w/ Internal Hammock: one BOA® dial tightens the shell, and the Ankle Hammock, an inner cuff that holds the heel down into the heel pocket, takes its tension from a second external dial. The liner closes with hook-and-loop, adds lightweight power panels, and has an asymmetric wrap cuff Burton says fits a variety of leg shapes. Burton also lists a quick-drying lining and EVA cushioning that it says absorbs shocks. The X Flex Vibram® outsole uses EcoStep rubber with traction lugs and 30% recycled content.
Burton's own words for this boot are surfy, fluid and playful, and it says the Happy Medium flex gives pop for hitting features. Inside, Burton lines it with DRYRIDE Heat Cycle™ Lining, and its 26/27 Tech Specs list a 1-year warranty. It is the wrong boot for anyone on Step On: Burton says its Step On bindings work only with Step On boots, and Burton sells the women's Step On version as a separate boot.
Burton lists no weight or binding size chart for this model. Bring your riding socks and we will measure your feet for length and width, heat-mold the liner, check the boot in your strap binding, and set the bindings up on a board bought from us.

Burton Women's Waverange X
2026/27
Flex
Happy Medium, the middle of Burton's three-step Personality scale: Soft & Playful, Happy Medium, Stiff & Aggressive. Burton calls the flex a softer mid-flex.
Flex ratings are the brand’s own and do not compare across brands.
Choosing Burton's 26/27 women's Waverange X comes down to how many separate settings a rider wants. This two-dial strap boot gives her two: heel hold, and everything else. Heel hold can be firmed up without cranking the shell dial tighter, but the forefoot and the upper still close together on a single shell dial.
Within the Waverange line, the women's Waverange X Pro is the strap boot that removes that limit. Burton gives it three independent BOA zones, for the forefoot, the ankle hammock and the upper cuff, plus the Asym Life Liner, in a boot Burton says carries the best liner it makes. Both boots wear the Happy Medium label, so the X Pro is a step up in adjustment and liner rather than a promised jump in stiffness. A rider who wants loose toes and a firm cuff belongs in the X Pro.
PTO does not read the women's Waverange X as a charging boot. Burton writes softer mid-flex, surfy and playful for it, and places it in the middle of its Soft & Playful to Stiff & Aggressive scale. A rider who wants a stiff boot for fast, hard turns should look further up that scale. Its place is with a rider who covers the whole mountain with some park and wants that middle flex.
The women's Waverange X shares its lacing, Ankle Hammock and liner names with the men's version, and both carry the Happy Medium label. Burton publishes no difference in last between them; the women's boot follows Burton's women's sizing.
For sizing, the women's Waverange X follows Burton's women's chart: US 7 converts to Mondo 24 and US 9 to Mondo 26. This page lists every Regular size Burton shows, US 5 to 11. Burton gives no last width to go on, so measure both feet and try the boot on before settling on your usual size. This page carries Wide in every half size from US women's 6 to 9.
Fit
Women's US sizing, Regular and Wide on this listing
Burton publishes no last name, last width or volume figure for the women's Waverange X. Burton offers a Wide option and lists Regular in US women's 5, 6 to 9.5 in half sizes, 10 and 11. On this listing, Regular covers every one of those sizes and Wide covers US 6 to 9 in half sizes.
Snowboard boots are sized by foot length, not a shell-width figure.
Closure
Dual Zone BOA® w/ Internal Hammock
Liner
Asym Imprint™ 3 — heat-moldable, with an asymmetric wrap cuff and hook-and-loop closure
Outsole
X Flex Vibram® outsole in Vibram® EcoStep rubber
Technology
Dual Zone BOA® w/ Internal Hammock
Two external BOA® dials. One closes the shell; the second, independent dial tightens an internal hammock around the ankle, which Burton says locks in the heel.
Ankle Hammock
An inner cuff that holds the heel into the boot heel pocket, tensioned by an external BOA® dial so it can be adjusted on the mountain, in Burton's description.
Asym Imprint™ 3 Liner
A women's heat-moldable liner with moisture management and wicking control, a hook-and-loop closure and lightweight power panels. Burton says its asymmetric wrap cuff gives a secure fit on a variety of leg shapes.
X Flex Vibram® Outsole
A Vibram® outsole in EcoStep rubber, 30% of it recycled, with traction lugs, which Burton describes as high-performance grip.

Best For
Strap-binding riders who want heel hold set on its own dial, apart from shell closure, and who ride the whole mountain with some park in a mid-flex boot. Riders who put comfort and a locked heel before stiffness, and riders who need a Wide between US women's 6 and 9.
Limitations
- −Burton calls it a softer mid-flex; it is not a charging boot
- −One shell dial cannot set the forefoot and upper separately
- −It will not fit Step On bindings, which need Step On boots
- −Burton publishes no weight, last width or flex number
- −Wide sizes on this page stop at US women's 9
Not For
Not for Step On riders: this is the strap-binding boot, and Burton builds the women's Waverange X Step On separately. Not for riders who want a stiff boot for charging at speed; Burton calls this one a softer mid-flex with playful flex. Not for riders who want the toes loose and the upper firm, since one dial runs the whole shell; the women's Waverange X Pro splits it. And not for anyone who cannot try it on, because Burton gives no last width.

Common Questions
- Burton Women's Waverange X vs Waverange X Pro: what is the difference?
- The Burton Women's Waverange X uses two BOA dials, one for the whole shell and one for the internal ankle hammock, with an Asym Imprint 3 liner. The women's strap Waverange X Pro uses three dials, on the upper cuff, ankle hammock and forefoot, plus the Asym Life Liner. Burton gives both boots the Happy Medium label.
- What size Burton Women's Waverange X should I get?
- Size the Burton Women's Waverange X by foot length on Burton's women's chart: US 7 is Mondo 24 and US 9 is Mondo 26. Burton builds Regular and Wide but publishes no last width, and this page carries Regular from US 5 to 11 and Wide from US 6 to 9. We measure both feet in the shop before you pick a size.
- Is the Burton Women's Waverange X good for beginners?
- Burton gives the Women's Waverange X no rider level; its page describes a softer mid-flex under the Happy Medium personality, with soft, playful control and some pop. PTO reads it as a comfort-first boot for the whole mountain, suited to riders beyond their first days, with two dials to set rather than the X Pro's three. Try it on in the shop before choosing.
- Does the Burton Women's Waverange X work with Step On bindings?
- No. The Burton Women's Waverange X is the strap-binding version, and Burton says Step On bindings are only compatible with Step On boots; the women's Waverange X Step On is the Step On model. Burton lists no strap-binding compatibility chart for this boot, so a PTO technician checks it in your binding at fitting.
- Burton Women's Waverange X vs men's Waverange X: how do they compare?
- The Burton Women's Waverange X and the men's version share Burton's lacing, Ankle Hammock and Asym Imprint 3 liner names and the Happy Medium label. The women's boot is sized on Burton's women's chart, US 5 to 11, while the men's runs US 6 to 15. Burton publishes no last difference between them, so fit is judged on the foot.
