Description
The Women's Burton Highshot X Pro Step On (26/27) is a women's Step On® snowboard boot with three independent BOA® dials, a heat-moldable Asym Life Liner and an Ankle Hammock inner cuff. Burton calls the flex firm and labels it Happy Medium, but publishes no flex number or last width; it builds the boot in Regular US women's 5 to 10 and Wide 5 to 11, and this page carries Black in Regular 5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8.5 and 9 and Wide 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8.5 and 9.
Step On® swaps binding straps for two toe cleats and a heel cleat that lock into a Step On binding. Burton's Triple Zone BOA® Wrap splits the fit three ways: one dial sets the upper cuff, one tensions the Ankle Hammock, which holds the heel in its pocket, and one pulls a wrap panel built on the liner over the top of the foot. Underneath sits the Highshot shell, with a taller backstay that Burton says adds response and heelside power, plus a one-piece shell, on an X Pro Firm Vibram® outsole of EcoStep+ rubber with 50% recycled content.
Burton puts the X Pro at the top of its Highshot and Waverange Step On lineup, and of its six women's 26/27 Step On boots this is the only one with three dials. It is the wrong boot for anyone keeping strap bindings, because Burton says Step On boots are only compatible with Step On bindings.
Burton publishes no weight. Its women's Step On chart sizes the binding from the boot: US 5 to 6 takes a Small, 6.5 to 8.5 a Medium and 9 to 11 a Large. Burton warns that mismatched sizes will malfunction and that men's and women's Step On boots and bindings must not be mixed. Bring the socks you ride in: we measure your feet, heat-mold the liner and match the binding size to the boot.

Flex
Happy Medium, the middle of Burton's three Personality labels (Soft & Playful, Happy Medium, Stiff & Aggressive). Burton calls the flex firm and gives no flex number.
Flex ratings are the brand’s own and do not compare across brands.
Burton's Women's Highshot X Pro Step On sits at the top of Burton's four women's Highshot Step On boots, and its gap to the Highshot X below it is narrow and specific. Both use the Ankle Hammock, DRYRIDE Heat Cycle lining and Burton's firm wording. The X Pro adds a third dial for a forefoot wrap built on the liner, trades the Asym Imprint 3 liner for the Asym Life Liner, and moves to a Vibram outsole with 50% recycled rubber against the Highshot X's 30%.
The Highshot X Pro earns its place on that third dial, and only for some feet. A rider whose instep wants different tension from the upper cuff gets that split here, where the Highshot X closes its whole shell on one dial. A rider whose fit already works with two zones gets little from the extra dial, and a rider whose ankle objects to a hammock is better served by the Highshot Plus and its Focus Cuff.
An independent test of the men's 25/26 Highshot X Pro Step On, which Burton builds from the same components, is the useful outside read. That tester found it medium-soft rather than firm, though a good bit stiffer than the Waverange X Pro, listed poor flex retention among its negatives and found little shock absorption. The hammock removed his heel lift but caused pressure points and added little ankle support. He felt great traction from the Vibram sole, called the liner very thin and found three dials slow to tighten. After two days his shell showed signs of breaking down; that is one pair and one tester.
Sizing the Highshot X Pro is a try-on job. The same reviewer found the men's 25/26 boot about half a size long, then called the line's 26/27 fit more true to size in a later test of the men's Highshot X. Women's sizing is its own run, and Burton's women's Step On chart puts US 5 and 6 on a Small binding, 6.5 to 8.5 on a Medium and 9 on a Large.
Season to season, Burton lists the same Tech Specs for the 25/26 and 26/27 women's Highshot X Pro Step On: lacing, liner, inner cuff, outsole, DRYRIDE lining and the Happy Medium label all match. The colors move from Black and White to Black and Dried Moss / Multi, and the marketing copy is rewritten. Burton publishes no change list, so the 25/26 boot is a fair guide to this one.
Fit
Women's US sizing, Regular and Wide on this listing
Burton publishes no last name, last width or volume figure for the Women's Highshot X Pro Step On. Burton makes Regular and Wide versions; this listing carries Regular in 7 sizes and Wide in 5, and not every size comes in both widths.
Snowboard boots are sized by foot length, not a shell-width figure.
Closure
Triple Zone BOA® Wrap (Burton BOA® Triple Dial PerformFit™ Wrap)
Liner
Asym Life Liner — heat-moldable foam with an asymmetric wrap cuff and DRYRIDE Heat Cycle™ lining
Outsole
X Pro Firm Vibram® Step On® Outsole, Vibram® EcoStep Plus rubber
Technology
Step On®
A strapless boot-to-binding connection: two toe cleats and a heel cleat lock the boot into a Step On® binding. Burton pitches it as stepping in and riding the moment you reach the top.
Triple Zone BOA® Wrap
Three independent BOA® dials for the upper cuff, the Ankle Hammock and the forefoot. Burton says the forefoot dial controls a wrapping panel built directly on the liner, across the dorsal ridge of the foot, and describes a micro-adjustable, zonal fit that locks in the heel.
Ankle Hammock
An inner cuff that holds the heel into the heel pocket, tensioned by its own external BOA® dial so it can be adjusted on the mountain.
Asym Life Liner
A lightweight, heat-moldable foam liner with an asymmetric wrap cuff and hook-and-loop closure. Its DRYRIDE Heat Cycle™ lining manages sweat and reflects body heat inward, per Burton.
X Pro Firm Vibram® Step On® Outsole
Vibram® EcoStep+ rubber with 50% recycled rubber content. Burton says it balances traction and durability and saves weight by removing material where it is not needed.
Highshot shell
Burton gives the Highshot family a taller backstay, which it says increases response and heelside power transfer, a one-piece shell without an articulating cuff, and an arch reinforcement wider than the Waverange's for responsiveness and stability.
Cuff Clip
A clip on the back of the boot that holds the pant cuff.
Features
- ·DRYRIDE Heat Cycle™ Lining
Strengths
- +Three independent BOA dials set cuff, heel and instep separately
- +Burton's taller Highshot backstay adds response and heelside power
- +The heat-moldable Asym Life Liner has an asymmetric wrap cuff
- +A tester of the men's version felt great Vibram traction
- +This listing carries Wide versions from US 6.5 to 9
Best For
Women on, or moving to, women's Step On bindings who want the cuff, the heel hold and the instep each set on its own dial. Riders whose heels lift in looser boots and who get on with an internal ankle hammock suit it, as do riders who want Burton's taller-backstay Highshot shell rather than the surfier Waverange. This listing includes Wide-width options in some sizes from US 6.5 to 9.
Limitations
- −Burton's Step On boots work only with Step On bindings
- −The men's version tested medium-soft despite Burton's firm wording
- −A tester got pressure points from the men's Ankle Hammock
- −The men's tester listed poor flex retention as a negative
- −A tester found three BOA dials slow to tighten
Not For
Not for strap-binding riders: Burton states that its Step On boots pair only with Step On bindings. Not for pairing with a men's Step On binding, since Burton warns that combining men's and women's Step On products will malfunction. Not for riders who need a truly stiff boot and are buying on Burton's firm wording alone; the men's version tested medium-soft. Not for sensitive ankles that cannot try the hammock on first. Not for riders who want one quick dial; Burton's women's Highshot Step On closes with a single Sequence BOA. And not for riders who need the flex to hold up over seasons of hard use.

Common Questions
- Burton Women's Highshot X Pro vs Highshot X Step On: what is the difference?
- Burton's Women's Highshot X Pro and Highshot X Step On share the Ankle Hammock, the DRYRIDE lining and the firm wording Burton uses. On top, the X Pro adds a third BOA dial for a forefoot wrap on the liner, the Asym Life Liner and a 50% recycled Vibram outsole; the Highshot X uses two dials, the Asym Imprint 3 liner and a 30% recycled Vibram outsole.
- What size Burton Women's Highshot X Pro Step On should I get?
- Size Burton's Women's Highshot X Pro Step On by foot length, then try it on: one reviewer found the men's 25/26 version about half a size long but later found the men's 2027 Highshot X closer to true size. This listing runs US women's 5 to 9, some sizes in one width only. Your binding follows the boot: S for US 5 to 6, M for 6.5 to 8.5, L for 9 to 11.
- Is the Burton Women's Highshot X Pro Step On good for beginners?
- Burton gives the Women's Highshot X Pro Step On no rider level; it describes the flex as firm, with a Happy Medium label. PTO reads it as a boot for confident intermediate to advanced riders who want fine fit control. Three dials are more tuning than most first-season riders use, and Burton's one-dial women's Highshot Step On is the simpler entry.
- Burton Women's vs Men's Highshot X Pro Step On: are they the same boot?
- Burton's Women's and Men's Highshot X Pro Step On list the same build: a three-dial BOA wrap, Asym Life Liner, Ankle Hammock, X Pro Firm Vibram outsole and DRYRIDE lining. They differ in sizing: the women's runs from women's 5 to 10, plus 11 in Wide, on a women's size chart and pairs only with women's Step On bindings. Its last width is unpublished.
- Does the Burton Women's Highshot X Pro Step On work with strap bindings?
- No. Burton says its Step On boots, the Women's Highshot X Pro Step On included, work only with Step On bindings. The pairing is also size- and gender-specific: Burton warns that mismatched sizes, or men's and women's Step On products combined, will malfunction. A PTO technician helps match the women's Step On binding size to your boot at fitting.
- Burton Women's Highshot X Pro Step On 2027 vs 2026: what changed?
- Burton's 2027 Women's Highshot X Pro Step On lists the same Tech Specs as the 2026 boot: Triple Zone BOA Wrap, Asym Life Liner, Ankle Hammock, X Pro Firm Vibram outsole and DRYRIDE lining, with the same Happy Medium label. The 25/26 page shows Black and White; the 26/27 page shows Black and Dried Moss / Multi, and Burton publishes no change list.
