Description

The Burton Escapade Re:Flex 2027 is a women's two-strap snowboard binding built around suspension, pairing a sprung Kickback Hammock hi-back with Double Take Buckles. Burton rates it Happy Medium, the middle of its three Personality tiers, with no flex number, and lists Re:Flex mounting for 2x4, 4x4 and Channel boards with the matching disc.

Inside the hi-back, Burton describes internal spring tension between a molded hammock and the frame, tuned for more response and less vibration. The baseplate is 30% short-glass/nylon composite, which Burton backs with a lifetime warranty; the straps and hi-back carry one year. Double Take Buckles, which Burton says need fewer cranks, close a Hammockstrap at the ankle and a Supergrip Capstrap 2.0 at the toe.

Who it suits: riders in standard strap boots who ride the whole mountain and want a hammock hi-back and buckles that crank down fast at medium flex. Who should skip it: Step On riders, who need the Step On Escapade; riders shopping Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier; Channel-board riders who want EST mounting, which is the Escapade EST; and anyone on a pre-2014 Burton 3D-pattern board who would rather not add Burton's 3D Hinge Disc, sold separately.

Burton sizes it by boot: on Burton's women's chart S covers US women's 4-6, M 6-8 and L from 8 up, and this listing carries all three. When you buy, we match the binding size to your boot. If you buy your board here, a technician checks the disc against its inserts before mounting at your stance and angles.

Burton Escapade Re:Flex

Escapade family · 2026/27

Traditional Two-StrapBurton logo

Flex

Happy Medium

This is the brand’s own wording, not a number, and it does not compare across brands.

The Burton Escapade Re:Flex is best judged against the Lexa Re:Flex, its tier-mate. Burton's 26/27 pages put both in the Happy Medium tier on a 30% short-glass/nylon baseplate, and Burton's own copy calls the Escapade slightly softer and more playful. The listed parts differ: the Escapade lists the Kickback Hammock hi-back, where the Lexa page lists no hi-back attribute, and Double Take Buckles in place of the Lexa's Smooth Glide, while the Lexa lists FullBED cushioning and the Escapade page names no underfoot cushioning system. PTO's read: the trade against the Lexa is the hammock hi-back here versus FullBED underfoot there.

The Escapade family splits by mounting and entry. The Escapade EST keeps this strap set, the hammock hi-back and the tier, but mounts with EST on Channel boards only and adds PodBED cushioning, which Burton says only the EST gets. The Step On Escapade carries the Kickback Hammock and tier for riders in Step On boots, on an 18% short-glass/nylon baseplate. Riders who want more support move up to Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier, which includes the Lexa X Re:Flex with a Heel Hammock and an Asym Hammockstrap.

Burton gives no weight, flex number, terrain scores or rider level for the Escapade. Its page also leaves the hi-back rotation range unstated and names two forward-lean adjusters, MicroFLAD in the Tech Specs and Dial FLAD in the features. None of that changes the size you need or the boards it mounts to.

The Escapade listing here comes in Black, in S, M and L. On the women's chart, S runs US women's 4 to 6, M 6 to 8 and L 8 and up, with men's 6 to 7 in M and 7 to 10 in L. The bands meet at 6 and at 8 with no published tiebreak, so size against the boot you will actually ride; we do that with you when you buy.

For mounting, the Escapade follows Burton's Re:Flex list: 2x4, 4x4 and The Channel with the matching disc, while older 3D-pattern Burton boards need the 3D Hinge Disc. The product page leaves the boxed disc unstated and Burton's general Re:Flex documents disagree on which discs come boxed, so for a board bought here our technician confirms the disc before mounting.

Technology

Kickback Hammock

Burton's sprung hi-back: internal spring tension between the molded hammock and the hi-back frame, which Burton says adds response and comfort while reducing vibration.

Double Take Buckles

Ratchet buckles with dual-sided tongue teeth, which Burton says engage quicker and take fewer cranks to tighten the straps.

Re:Flex mounting

Burton's disc mounting system, which Burton says improves board flex and feel while reducing weight. Boards with Burton's old 3D pattern need the 3D Hinge Disc, which is not included.

Supergrip Capstrap 2.0

A cap-style toe strap; Burton's strap guide says cap straps wrap across the toe of the boot, pulling it down and back into the heelcup.

MicroFLAD and Dial FLAD

Burton's forward lean adjusters: MicroFLAD works with a lever and sliding plate, DialFLAD with a rotating dial. The Escapade page lists MicroFLAD in its Tech Specs and Dial FLAD in its features.

Features

  • ·Hammockstrap ankle strap
  • ·Includes reground materials

Strengths

  • +The Kickback Hammock hi-back is spring-tensioned for response, per Burton.
  • +Double Take Buckles tighten the straps in fewer cranks, per Burton.
  • +Burton's Re:Flex list covers 2x4, 4x4 and Channel boards.
  • +This listing carries Burton's S, M and L sizes.

Best For

Strap-boot riders who cover the whole mountain and want Burton's Kickback Hammock hi-back and Double Take buckles at Happy Medium flex, on a 2x4, 4x4 or Channel board, in US women's 4 and up.

Limitations

  • −Burton's page lists both MicroFLAD and Dial FLAD for forward lean.
  • −The Escapade page names no underfoot cushioning system; the Lexa lists FullBED.
  • −Burton publishes no weight, numeric flex or terrain scores.
  • −Pre-2014 Burton 3D boards need the separately sold 3D Hinge Disc.

Not For

Riders in Step On boots: this is a strap binding, and the Step On Escapade is the Step On version. Riders who want a binding from Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier, such as the Lexa X Re:Flex with its Heel Hammock. Riders on Channel boards who want EST mounting and PodBED underfoot, which is the Escapade EST. And owners of pre-2014 Burton 3D boards who would rather not buy the 3D Hinge Disc.

Common Questions

Burton Escapade vs Lexa: what is the difference?
The Burton Escapade and the Lexa Re:Flex share Burton's Happy Medium tier and a 30% short-glass/nylon baseplate, and Burton describes the Escapade as the slightly softer, more playful one. Where Burton's pages differ, the Escapade lists a Kickback Hammock hi-back, Double Take buckles, a Capstrap 2.0, a Hammockstrap and MicroFLAD plus Dial FLAD. The Lexa lists a single-component baseplate, Smooth Glide buckles, a plain Capstrap, Hammockstrap 2.0, DialFLAD and FullBED cushioning, and no hi-back attribute.
What size Burton Escapade binding should I get?
Size the Burton Escapade from your boot size. Burton's women's chart puts S at US women's 4-6, M at 6-8 and L at 8 and up, overlapping at 6 and 8, with US men's 6-7 in M and 7-10 in L. This listing carries S, M and L, and we match the size to your boot when you buy.
Will the Burton Escapade fit my board?
The Burton Escapade mounts by Re:Flex, and Burton's list covers 2x4, 4x4 and The Channel, each with its matching disc, while pre-2014 3D-pattern Burton boards require the separately sold 3D Hinge Disc. Burton's page does not say which disc is in the box. For a board bought from us, our technician checks the disc before mounting.
Burton Escapade vs Escapade EST: which should I choose?
The Burton Escapade mounts with Re:Flex discs on 2x4, 4x4 or Channel inserts, while the Escapade EST mounts only on boards with The Channel. Burton lists the same straps, Double Take buckles, Kickback Hammock and Happy Medium tier on both, and gives the EST PodBED cushioning. Riders without a Channel board need the Re:Flex Escapade.
Is the Burton Escapade good for beginners?
The Burton Escapade sits in Burton's middle Personality tier, Happy Medium, which Burton's own guide ties to all-mountain riding and to riders who have the basics and want to progress. Burton gives the binding no level rating. PTO reads it as a fit for riders who already have the basics.
Burton Escapade 2027 vs 2026: what changed?
The Burton Escapade 2027 keeps the 2026 Tech Specs on Burton's pages: Re:Flex mounting, the 30% short-glass/nylon baseplate, the Kickback Hammock, the same straps and Double Take buckles, MicroFLAD in the specs and the Happy Medium tier. Within those lists, the difference Burton shows is color: White on the 2026 page, Black and White / Dried Moss for 2027.
