Description
The Burton Genesis Re:Flex 2027 is a men's two-strap snowboard binding built for comfort, pairing a sprung Kickback Hammock hi-back with B3 gel underfoot. Burton rates it Happy Medium, the middle of its three Personality tiers, with no flex number, and its Re:Flex mounting follows Burton's system list of 2x4, 4x4 and Channel boards with the matching disc.
Inside the hi-back, Burton describes internal spring tension between a molded hammock and the frame that suspends the heel for more response and less vibration. The baseplate is single-component 30% short-glass/nylon composite, and Double Take Buckles, which Burton says need fewer cranks, close a Hammockstrap at the ankle and a Supergrip Capstrap 2.0 at the toe. Burton gives no weight or terrain scores and names two forward-lean adjusters, MicroFLAD and DialFLAD.
It suits strap-boot riders who ride the whole mountain and put cushioning and damping ahead of maximum response. Step On riders need the Step On Genesis instead, and riders after Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier, where the Cartel X Re:Flex sits, should look up the range. Riders in US men's 8.5-9.5, which falls in Burton's M, will not find their size on this listing.
We would steer three more riders elsewhere, based on one independent tester's findings. Riders chasing response on very stiff boards should know the tester saw response drop off there. Riders who often move stance width on non-Channel boards should know the tester rated stance adjustment Poor and the disc slides only 20mm. Riders who crank toe straps hard should know the tester found the ratchets can stop short or pop back a notch.
Burton sizes it by boot: S covers US men's 6-8, M 8-11 and L 10 and up, and this listing carries S and L. When you buy, we match the binding size to your boot. If you buy your board here, a technician checks the disc against its inserts before mounting at your stance and angles.

Burton Genesis Re:Flex
Genesis family · 2026/27
Flex
Happy Medium
This is the brand’s own wording, not a number, and it does not compare across brands.
Against its closest sibling, the Cartel Re:Flex, the Genesis case comes down to two listed parts. Burton's 26/27 pages give both the Happy Medium tier and the same 30% short-glass/nylon single-component baseplate. The Genesis adds the Kickback Hammock hi-back and B3 gel, where the Cartel page lists no hi-back attribute and FullBED cushioning. A rider who does not want those two parts gets the same tier and baseplate in the Cartel. Buckles, straps and forward-lean listings also differ between the two pages, and the Genesis vs Cartel answer below sets them out.
On snow, one independent review of the Genesis Re:Flex, with a 2026 note that little or nothing has changed in recent years, rated comfort, shock absorption and ratchet smoothness Excellent and buttering Very Easy, called flex Medium/Soft, and liked the soft, easy-to-rotate hi-back. The same tester rated stance adjustability Poor, because on non-Channel boards the binding can only move about 20mm. That review also found the toe straps held less than the ankle straps, said the ratchets stop or pop back a notch or two when cranked hard, and saw response drop off on stiffer boards.
Elsewhere in Burton's line, the Genesis EST keeps this hammock, gel, strap set and tier on EST mounting, for Channel boards only; the same tester found its flex underfoot easier still. The Cartel X Re:Flex moves up to Stiff & Aggressive with a 45% short-glass baseplate and Heel Hammock. The Step On Genesis carries the same hammock and tier for Step On boots, and in that tester's same-day laps on one board, the strap Genesis was considerably less responsive.
The Genesis listing here comes in Black, in sizes S and L. On Burton's chart, S runs US men's 6 to 8 and L 10 and up, with M covering 8 to 11, so a US men's 9 falls between the two sizes on this page. The chart also overlaps at 8 and at 10 to 11 without a published tiebreak, so we size it against the boot you will actually ride.
On the board side, the Genesis follows Burton's Re:Flex list: 2x4, 4x4 and The Channel with the matching disc, and older 3D-pattern Burton boards need the 3D Hinge Disc. Burton's product page leaves the boxed disc unstated, so for a board bought here our technician confirms the disc before mounting.
Technology
Kickback Hammock
Burton's suspended hi-back: the molded hammock and hi-back frame are linked by internal spring tension, which Burton says increases response and reduces vibration.
B3 gel cushioning
Gel cushioning underfoot that Burton says maintains comfort and dampening through a wide range of temperatures and long-term use.
Double Take Buckles
Buckles with dual-sided tongue teeth, which Burton says engage quicker and tighten the straps in fewer cranks.
Re:Flex mounting
Burton's hinged disc system, which Burton says improves board flex and feel while reducing weight. Boards with Burton's old 3D pattern need the 3D Hinge Disc, which is not included.
Single-Component Baseplate
A baseplate made of one material throughout, which Burton says gives consistent response and feel.
Supergrip Capstrap 2.0
A cap-style toe strap; Burton's strap guide says cap straps wrap across the toe of the boot, pulling it down and back into the heelcup.
MicroFLAD and DialFLAD
Burton's forward lean adjusters: MicroFLAD uses a lever and sliding plate, DialFLAD a rotating dial. Burton's Genesis page lists MicroFLAD in its Tech Specs and DialFLAD in its features.
Features
- ·Hammockstrap ankle strap
- ·Includes reground materials
Strengths
- +Kickback Hammock hi-back uses spring tension to cut vibration, per Burton.
- +B3 gel cushioning keeps comfort across temperatures, per Burton.
- +Burton's Re:Flex list covers 2x4, 4x4 and Channel boards.
- +One independent review rated comfort and shock absorption Excellent.
Best For
Strap-boot riders who cover the whole mountain and want Burton's Kickback Hammock hi-back and B3 gel in the Happy Medium tier, on a 2x4, 4x4 or Channel board, in US men's 6-8 or 10 and up.
Limitations
- −One independent review rated stance adjustability Poor on non-Channel boards.
- −Burton's page lists both MicroFLAD and DialFLAD for forward lean.
- −This listing carries sizes S and L only, with no M.
- −Burton publishes no weight, numeric flex or terrain scores.
Not For
Riders in Step On boots: this is a strap binding, and the Step On Genesis is the Step On version. Riders who want Burton's Stiff & Aggressive tier, such as the Cartel X Re:Flex. Riders who fine-tune stance width on 2x4 or 4x4 boards, since one independent review rated stance adjustability Poor. Riders who crank their toe straps hard, as that review found the ratchets pop back. Riders on very stiff boards chasing maximum response. And riders in about US men's 8.5 to 9.5, which Burton's chart puts in M, a size this listing does not carry.

Common Questions
- Burton Genesis vs Cartel: what is the difference?
- The Burton Genesis and the Cartel Re:Flex share Burton's Happy Medium tier and a 30% short-glass/nylon baseplate. Where they differ, the Genesis has Burton's Kickback Hammock, B3 gel underfoot, Double Take Buckles, and Capstrap 2.0 toe and Hammockstrap ankle straps. The Cartel instead lists FullBED cushioning, Smooth Glide buckles, a plain Supergrip Capstrap, Hammockstrap 2.0 at the ankle and only DialFLAD, with no hi-back attribute.
- What size Burton Genesis binding should I get?
- The Burton Genesis is sized by boot. Burton's chart puts S at US men's 6-8, M at 8-11 and L at 10 and up, overlapping at 8 and 10-11. This listing carries S and L, and we match the size to your boot when you buy.
- Will the Burton Genesis fit my board?
- The Burton Genesis mounts with Re:Flex, and Burton's Re:Flex list covers 2x4, 4x4 and The Channel, each paired with its own Re:Flex disc, and pre-2014 3D-pattern Burton boards require the separately sold 3D Hinge Disc. Burton's page does not say which disc is in the box. For a board bought from us, our technician checks the disc before mounting.
- Burton Genesis vs Genesis EST: which should I choose?
- The Burton Genesis mounts with Re:Flex discs on 2x4, 4x4 or Channel inserts, while the Genesis EST mounts only on boards with The Channel. Burton lists the same Kickback Hammock, B3 gel, straps and Happy Medium tier on both. Riders without a Channel board need the Re:Flex Genesis.
- Is the Burton Genesis good for beginners?
- The Burton Genesis sits in Burton's middle Personality tier, Happy Medium, which Burton's own guide ties to all-mountain riding. Burton gives the binding no level rating. PTO reads it as a fit for riders who have the basics and want to progress.
- Burton Genesis 2027 vs 2026: what changed?
- The Burton Genesis 2027 keeps the 2026 Tech Specs on Burton's pages: Re:Flex mounting, 30% short-glass/nylon baseplate, Kickback Hammock, the same straps and buckles, B3 gel, Happy Medium and the same size chart. The difference Burton shows is color: White / Dried Moss and Black for 2027.
