Blizzard Black Pearl 84

The take
“The groomer ski that doesn't make you feel like you're on training wheels.”
The Black Pearl 84 is the narrowest in Blizzard's Black Pearl line — a frontside-leaning all-mountain ski that's happiest on groomers and hardpack. 84mm waist, 13m radius at 164, rocker-camber-rocker. It carves clean, initiates easy, and doesn't punish you for being lazy at the end of the day.
The TrueBlend core is beech and poplar — denser wood underfoot for stability, lighter wood in the tip and tail for swing weight. Add a sheet of titanal and you get a ski that feels planted without being heavy. At 1,590g in the 164, it's light enough for all-day cruising.
This is the ski you recommend to the intermediate skier who's ready for something real but doesn't need to be scared of it. It's also the ski the expert grabs on a Tuesday afternoon when they just want to make smooth turns and not think about it. Six sizes from 146 to 176 covers everyone.
Compared to the Black Pearl 88, you trade off-piste versatility for better edge hold and quicker edge-to-edge transitions on hardpack. Compared to the Stöckli Laser SC (72mm), the Black Pearl 84 is more forgiving and handles mixed conditions better. Different price tier, though.
