The Atomic AMT SQS W is a fixed-length alpine resort pole built around Atomic's 4-star high-grade aluminum shaft — a high-tensile alloy that keeps weight down (250g per pole) without the brittleness you sometimes get in cheaper aluminum. That swing weight matters on high-mileage resort days: the pole moves out of the way quickly and plants firmly without demanding your full attention. The grip is Atomic's women's-specific AMT shape, narrower and contoured with grip ridges so your hand doesn't have to clench to hold on during aggressive pole plants. The SQS — Safety Quick Release System — is Atomic's own take on a safety strap: the strap releases under load rather than torquing your wrist or thumb in a fall. It's not a trigger-style release like Leki's, but it does the job on groomed terrain. The 60mm piste basket is sized for hardpack and groomed snow; it works fine in a few inches of soft stuff but is not a powder basket.
These are a solid buy for intermediate to advanced women skiers who ski groomers and all-mountain resort terrain and want a reliable pole with a safety strap at a modest price. If you're mostly on groomers, the AMT SQS W does everything it needs to without overcomplicating things. That said, if you're regularly skiing deep or off-piste snow, you'll want a larger basket — and Atomic's own AMT Carbon SQS W is worth the step up if swing weight and vibration damping matter to you (carbon absorbs chop noticeably better than aluminum). These poles are fixed-length, so touring or backcountry skiers should look elsewhere entirely.
