This is a full mitt — not a glove, not a trigger — built for kids who spend real time in the snow and need hands that actually stay dry. The shell is a 3-layer softshell with a GORE-TEX insert and a PFAS-free DWR finish, so it handles wet snow and persistent cold without stiffening up. Insulation runs 160g on the back of the hand and 120g on the palm, which puts it solidly in the warm-but-not-stifling range for a ski or snowboard day that isn't pushing extreme temperatures. The palm is DuraGrain synthetic leather, the lining is micro tricot, and 686's Movement Fit articulation keeps the mitt from bunching when small hands grip poles or rails. A wrist leash and elastic bungee closure round out the fit.
This mitt works well for kids who run warm to average and ski or ride in typical winter conditions — wet Pacific Northwest snow, variable mountain weather, full day outings. It's not the right call for kids who get cold easily in sustained sub-zero days, or for parents looking for a gauntlet-style cuff that seals over a jacket sleeve. The bungee closure sits closer to under-cuff in fit. Sizes run S, M, L in a youth range.
