The SMARTY® 3-in-1 Gauntlet is 686's warmest glove setup — a gauntlet-style shell with a removable merino wool blend liner that you can run together on the coldest days or split apart when the season shifts. The outer shell is GORE-TEX waterproofed with a PFAS-free DWR finish, and insulation runs 340g polyfill on the back with 120g in the palm, so there's meaningful warmth built into the shell even without the liner. Merino brings the comfort and odor resistance that synthetic liners don't, which matters when you're wearing these every day. The gauntlet cuff cinches with an adjustable bungee and elastic cord closure — this is over-the-jacket coverage, not tuck-under.
On the feature list: Soundtouch™ touchscreen fingertips, a Secure Strap™ wrist leash, Hex-Grip™ palm for pole grip, a waterproof zipper hand-warmer pocket, and a velvet thumb nose wipe.
