The take
“Rene Rinnekangas' signature — full camber, triple carbon, zero forgiveness. The faster you go, the more confident it feels.”
This is Rene Rinnekangas' signature board, and it rides exactly like you'd expect: aggressive, stiff, fully cambered, and built for riders who go fast and hit things hard. The Stay Positive Camber profile — full traditional camber with no rocker zones and no forgiveness features — gives you maximum edge hold, maximum pop, and maximum consequences if your technique isn't there.
Construction is top-shelf Rome. The SuperPop core alternates 10mm poplar strips with 20mm paulownia strips for a lightweight but responsive layup. Directional Triple Carbon Omega HotRods run from the inserts into the nose and tail — carbon rods wrapped in an omega-shaped carbon sleeve for extra snap. Flax Impact Plates around the inserts absorb landing impacts, and Twin Flax Walls reinforce the nose and tail for durability at speed.
The Rene-Gade excels at high-speed park laps, big kickers, steep lines, and aggressive all-mountain riding. Multiple reviews note it performs best when you're pushing it. At low speed, that stiffness becomes a liability — it doesn't butter, it doesn't forgive lazy turns, and it doesn't help you if you're still learning edge control. This is an advanced-to-expert board, period.
Bindings we'd pair with it
Mount point: 2x4 insert pattern. Our pick: Rome Katana FW.
Rome Katana FWMaximum power transferFullWrap platform uses four connection points to the baseplate for maximum energy transfer and lateral support — exactly what you want under a stiff, cambered charger. 7-9/10 flex matches the board's aggressive personality.
Rome Katana AW FASESlightly surfer feelAsymWrap three-point connection offers a surfier feel with fast entry convenience. Works but slightly undercuts the board's direct power delivery compared to the FW.
