Atomic's Widest Frontside Carver — Race DNA With Real-World Width

The Redster Q9.8 Revoshock S is the widest ski in Atomic's Redster Q line, sitting at 84–85mm underfoot depending on length. It's a full-camber frontside carver with race-bred construction, but that extra waist width gives it a touch more versatility than the narrower Q9 (68mm) or S9 (66mm). Think of it as the Redster you can actually use every day, not just on race-hardened ice.

Construction

• Power Woodcore — poplar and ash laminate. Light, strong, good energy return.
• Titanal layer (TI Powered) — metal sheet above and below the core for stability and edge grip at speed.
• Revoshock S — Atomic's vibration-dampening plate system. Absorbs chatter before it reaches your feet. You feel the benefit most on hardpack and variable groomers.
• Ultrawall sidewalls — full ABS sidewall for direct power transmission to the edge.
• 100% Active Camber — no rocker, no early rise. Tip-to-tail edge contact. This ski wants to carve, period.
• Sintered base with World Cup base finish.

Who It's For

Advanced to expert skiers who spend most of their time on groomers and want a ski that rewards clean technique. The turn radii (13.6–15.2m) are in the medium-short range — this ski likes to carve linked turns, not bomb straight lines. If you come from a race background but want something a bit more forgiving than a true SL or GS ski, the Q9.8 is that middle ground.

Worth Knowing

This is a groomer specialist. At 84–85mm underfoot with no rocker, it has limited off-piste utility. Bumps and crud are manageable but not where it shines. The full camber profile demands solid technique — if you're still skidding your turns, this ski will feel stiff and unforgiving. Comes with Atomic X 12 GW bindings (DIN 4–12).
