POC Obex WF MIPS Ski Helmet
Obex family · 26/27

Technology

A low-friction layer inside the helmet that lets it move a few millimeters on an angled impact, redirecting rotational force away from your head.
Wide Fit (WF) Geometry
A rounder, wider interior shell shape for heads that a standard oval helmet pinches at the temples or sits too narrow on.
Dual-Material Shell
A polycarbonate body with an ABS top section over an EPS liner — the standard Obex build, in the Wide Fit shape.
Sliding Vent Covers
Vent covers you can slide open or closed with a glove to tune airflow, with goggle chimneys to reduce fogging.
Features
- ·Wide Fit interior for rounder or wider head shapes
- ·Sliding vent covers with goggle chimneys
- ·360° adjustment dial for a fast, dialed fit
- ·Goggle clip and clean POC goggle integration
- ·Compatible with the Obex Connect headset
The whole reason the WF exists is fit, so that is where it earns its place. Helmet shells have a shape, not just a size, and most run a medium-oval interior. Heads that are rounder — wider side-to-side relative to front-to-back — get pinched at the temples in a standard oval lid, or have to size up and end up with a loose, rocking fit. The WF (Wide Fit) shell is molded rounder and wider inside to sit flush on those heads. It matters more than a comfort note: a helmet only protects when it sits level and snug, and a pressure-point or rocking fit is the most common reason people wear one loose or wrong.
Beyond the interior shape it is the full Obex platform. The shell is dual-material — a polycarbonate body with a harder ABS top section — over an EPS liner, with Mips Evolve to help manage rotational force on an angled hit. Sliding vent covers open and close airflow with a glove, goggle chimneys cut fogging, and a 360° dial fine-tunes tension. It certifies to EN 1077 Class B, ASTM F2040, and UKCA, and weighs 460g in XS/S and 510g in M/L.
Against the standard Obex MIPS the trade is straightforward. The regular Obex sits on a medium-oval shell and runs three sizes through XL/XXL; the WF trades that range for the wider interior and is offered in XS/S and M/L only. You do not buy the WF for features — the feature set is identical — you buy it for the shape. If a normal helmet has ever left a pressure point at your temples or refused to sit level, try the WF. If standard helmets already fit you well, the regular Obex MIPS will sit closer and give you more sizes to choose from.
Strengths
- +Rounder, wider interior for head shapes a standard oval helmet pinches
- +Mips Evolve rotational protection and a 360° dial fit
- +Glove-friendly sliding vents with anti-fog goggle chimneys
- +Light for the class at 460g in XS/S
Best For
Skiers with a rounder or wider head shape who want the Obex but a better-matching fit — try it on if standard helmets leave pressure points.
Limitations
- −Only two sizes (XS/S and M/L) — no XL/XXL
- −Wrong shape for a narrow or standard-oval head
- −No rescue hardware — resort-focused, not a backcountry lid
Not For
Narrow or standard-oval heads (the regular Obex MIPS fits closer and comes in more sizes) and anyone needing XL/XXL.

Common Questions
- What does WF mean on the POC Obex WF MIPS?
- WF stands for Wide Fit — a rounder, wider interior shell geometry for heads that a standard oval helmet pinches at the temples or sits too narrow on.
- How is the Obex WF MIPS different from the standard Obex MIPS?
- It shares the same dual-material shell, EPS liner, and Mips Evolve, but with a wider, rounder interior shape. It is offered in XS/S and M/L only, where the standard Obex adds XL/XXL.
- How much does the POC Obex WF MIPS weigh?
- It weighs 460g in XS/S and 510g in M/L.
- Will the Obex WF MIPS fit a narrow head?
- No — that is the wrong helmet for a narrow head. The WF shell is molded rounder and wider than a standard oval interior, so a narrow head would sit loose in it. For a narrow or standard-oval head, the regular Obex MIPS will fit closer.
- Does the POC Obex WF MIPS come in XL/XXL?
- No. The Wide Fit is offered in XS/S and M/L only. If you need XL/XXL, the standard Obex MIPS covers that size range.
